YA Fiction for Us Older Folks - A Good Listen
The second installment in The Faithful takes up where the first book left off, setting out at an uneven jog before finally breaking into a full sprint to the finish line. Much of this book is dedicated to world building, laying out the mythos behind the magic and preparing for the final battle to come. A few new characters enter the fray and we get to know the original gang a little better, with all the requisite angst and drama. While the story plays a bit like Young Adult fiction, some of this content is much more on the adult side. Not that I'm complaining, just passing it along. The narrator isn't memorable, but she handles the subject matter skillfully enough, juggling a lot of characters and points of view without difficulty. I plunked down $7 (ran out of credits) for this one and I have no regrets. Be warned ... this book had its own conclusion, but it is clearly a set up for more of the tale yet to come. You may be waiting a while for the next installment.

Heartbreakingly Beautiful
This is a beautiful story of redemption & "True Grit"; flawlessly written and narrated. Post apocalyptic literature at its best. Ms Freedman & Ms Eby, I thank you both for the hours of enjoyment these two books gave me.
