Excellent

This is my absolute favorite book by Sheldon and read more times than I can count so I was curious how it would hold up in contrast. It didn’t disappoint! The narrator did a fantastic job, esp with all the accents. The only one that I felt was off was Jeff’s but luckily, not distracting. Can’t wait to listen to it again!

Repetitive

I have listened to a few Sidney Sheldon books and enjoyed them all...this one was not quite up to the same level. Story started out entertaining but the repetitive scenes got old.

Great story!

Love the style of Sidney Sheldon. I thought the narration was good and the many accents were handled with ease. Looking forward to hearing another book by this author.

Top Notch Novel, Great Author, Awful Narrator

Where does If Tomorrow Comes rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As an audiobook, it would be in the bottom of rankings due to the horrible narrator. As a book, it ranks among the highest on my list of favorite novels. It's been a favorite of mine since childhood; I've read the book several times and also love the miniseries.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the cons and scams run by both Tracy Whitney and Jeff Stevens. It was fun trying to figure out how they would outsmart the police--and each other--or get away with seemingly impossible heists. Sheldon always kept you guessing and entertained up to the last page.

What didn’t you like about Nancy La Scala’s performance?

It seemed as though the narrator phoned in her performance and hadn't bothered to even look at the book before reading it aloud. When she wasn't monotone (which was for the majority of the book) she added inflections in all the wrong places. Her accents were atrocious, which is shameful for a story that spans multiple countries with a heroine who is supposed to be fluent in several languages and able to imitate any accent. The narrator constantly mispronounced words, which I could've let slide, but it was incredibly distracting that in a book about jewel thieves, she could never manage to say "jewelry" correctly.

It was heartbreaking to hear such a beloved novel butchered in this fashion. If it weren't for the fact that I love the book so much, I would have stopped listening after the first chapter.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Whoever said crime doesn't pay wasn't keeping an eye on their wallet.

Narration

Sidney Sheldon was a master. It's too bad you couldn't find a narrator that did him proud.

Another classic Sheldon masterpiece!

I don’t know why so many reviewers attacked the narrator. I thought she did well. I have no idea if her accent impressions were accurate nor did I care. It didn’t take away from the book at all and I still enjoyed it. The twists and turns the story took kept me on edge and I kept getting surprised. An absolute wonderful book. Highly recommended!

The Story Held Its Own!

I read this book probably 30 years ago and I loved it It popped into mind last week so I decided to look for the audio book. I was quite excited to find it. I was very disappointed with the narrator. She started out very monotone and not very good with different voices. The story itself; however, was worth the listening through her. I don't know if she got better as the book went on, or if I just got used to her, but she seemed a little better by the end. I recommend anyone who is looking for a good book with lots of twists and turns to give this a go. Just be patient. The narrator may turn you off but you don't want to miss all those plot twists!

Pretty good story, badly told

I read the book many years ago and loved it. The reader needs coaching with accents and pronunciation of foreign words.
