So so thriller

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I doubt I will recommend this. There are three stories going on simultaneously. The first is a standard thriller of a guy being pursued by crooked cops. The second is the story of Luke trying to comfort Paul as he awaits execution. The third is the story of Paul. Of these it was the third that I was most interested in. Unfortunately, that story is mostly about his youth. It is only 90% through the book that Paul has his conversion on the road to Damascus. I wanted to see the political machinations of the early church and that is barely mentioned.

On the edge of my seat!

I felt as if I was a spectator watching everything the writers wrote because of their ability to bring the words to life--Paul's prison cell, every character had a face, every place was clearly seen (though I have not traveled there).

I recommend the book to everyone who loves a good historical novel.

Loved the narration, too.

I will definitely listen again and again.

Loved it!

Any additional comments?

Loved the story. Finished the book in about 3 days. The book goes about 2 stories at a time. One in the present day and one in the days of Paul.

So-So

What did you like best about I, Saul? What did you like least?

I found the potential story line intriguing, but had a great deal of difficulty identifying with the characters due to the poor reading, and poor sound quality. There was some background sound, and the recording stopped repeatedly necessitating rewinding to the previous chapter break, and restarting numerous times.

Would you be willing to try another book from Jerry B. Jenkins and James MacDonald ? Why or why not?

I am not certain.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The voice quality did not enhance the story in anyway. I found the narrator difficult to listen to, unlike many other recordings I have downloaded from Audible.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

maybe. as I said the story was intriguing.

Worth the listen

I thought the multiple plot lines between modern day and the first century kept my interest in a way any one of them alone could not have. The accuracy of the story with what is historically known was very well handled extremely well and the portrayal of Paul made me think about aspects of his life I had not considered before. A solid story with a good performance.

Great concept, great execution

I'm writing a few weeks later, so I'm left with overall impressions at this point. I found this compelling and plausible, so if the idea intrigues you, I think you'll enjoy it.

Saul, a novel.

Wow! Truly wonderful combination of Scripture and imagination.
Two stories intertwined into this epic.
A great read that captivates you and keeps you listening, especially at the end of each chapter.
Alternating story lines keep it fresh.

Bringing the WORD to life!

Jerry Jenkins makes the story come to life and the voice variations of the narrator enhances the character of each individual! Very good and the proverbial cliff hanger! Really good!!!

What an amazing book - the detail to history and the intrigue - WOW

Thank you Jerry Jenkins for one of the most awesome books we’ve listened to, and thank you for all the painstaking research you and your team must done, may God bless you!
PS the missing pages are interweaved with the letters Paul wrote to the church🤗🤣🤣
