Publisher's summary

The next blockbuster thriller for those who loved The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl.... A novel with "an astonishing intensity that drags you in and never - ever - lets you go" (Daily Mail, UK).

On a rainy afternoon, a mother's life is shattered as her son slips from her grip and runs into the street....

I Let You Go follows Jenna Gray as she moves to a ramshackle cottage on the remote Welsh coast, trying to escape the memory of the car accident that plays again and again in her mind and desperate to heal from the loss of her child and the rest of her painful past.

At the same time, the novel tracks the pair of Bristol police investigators trying to get to the bottom of this hit-and-run. As they chase down one hopeless lead after another, they find themselves as drawn to each other as they are to the frustrating, twist-filled case before them.

Elizabeth Haynes, author of Into the Darkest Corner, says, "I read I Let You Go in two sittings; it made me cry (at least twice), made me gasp out loud (once), and above all made me wish I'd written it...a stellar achievement."

Compelling thriller

The story was cleverly unfurled, and I finished listening in a week, but I found the repetitive descriptions of domestic violence gratuitous and unnecessary for the story - one or two would have been sufficient to get the point across! I enjoyed the Gone Girl-style of narrative with plenty of twists, and overall was engrossed in the story.

Great performance really disappointed in the story

I loved listening to this book because I loved listening to their accents, other than that, I was very disappointed in the story. The reviews say that it was the ultimate page turner and kept you guessing until the last page... Wrong. I had it all figured out right after the one and only "twist" that they had in the book. I thought they would keep throwing in plot twists.. But no sir, it was just sad.. Really not a feel good book. And then to make matters worse.. It didn't even wrap up in the end. No happy ending, not even a sad one! No ending at all! So.. I wouldn't recommend this book to anybody actually, I'm not mad that I used my credit for it, because it was entertaining enough to listen to, but not good enough to recommend.

I Can Predict This Book In Three Notes

Would you try another book from Clare Mackintosh and/or Nicola Barber and Steven Crossley ?

Maybe

Has I Let You Go turned you off from other books in this genre?

I am starting to believe they should have a weak female character genre. I would never knowingly buy those books.

Which character – as performed by Nicola Barber and Steven Crossley – was your favorite?

Both narrators were good.

Could you see I Let You Go being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

This is definitely a Lifetime Television movie. I would not watch.

Any additional comments?

This was a very predictable book except for one twist. The one twist did not improve the book for me. And the story line did not make a lot of sense. I predicted early on how it was going to end, and I was right.

I loved this book suspense right to the end. I thought I had it figured out but there are lots of twists.

Unpleasant and predictable

Truely unpleasant characters ( Jenna was an emotional mess, Ian an absolute beast ). The police investigation was mildly interesting. The reported plot twists were completely predictable. The (2) narrators are usually excellent, but they couldn't make this either suspenseful or entertaining. One word review - YUCK.

This Amazing Story Will NOT Let YOU Go!

Hang on for a thrilling ride as you proceed through this book. It is a psychological mystery/thriller of the first class. It is impossible to say much without giving away the story and thus becoming a spoiler review -- but just know that all is not what it seems; plot, characters, events -- and be ready for twists and turns in this story that will keep you listening all night if needed. The narration was wonderful throughout, the writing excellent. If you enjoy a new twist at every turn, this one is for you! And it will stay with you for a very long time -- as you ask yourself "why?" "who?" and gasp at what comes next. Very enjoyable listen!

So Good!!!

This book is definitely in my top 25 favorites of all time. Lots of twists and turns and the narrator was fantastic. The story moves along slowly and it had a Girl on the Train kind of feel to it. I was glued to this book and hope to find more by this author.

Puppies were tied up in a bag and tossed to die.

Any additional comments?

I thought I'd found a good book to listen to but this one has animal neglect and animal cruelty in it just like all the others I seem to be choosing lately. I keep returning them. Maybe I should just cancel my subscription. I can't seem to find a good book any more.
