Publisher's Summary

This rag-tag gang of has-beens has never worked together before, but Dwight "Rocco" Cavarra has less than a week to train them and lead them on the hairiest operation of their lives. It's not bad enough that they have to plow through an African civil war, infiltrate a fortified terrorist encampment and steal a black market tactical nuke from a mob of fanatic sociopaths - there are Israeli wild cards in play: two death-dealing Mossad agents who don't necessarily share Cavarra's agenda. When the mission is compromised before it has even started, Rocco and his Retreads are caught between bloodthirsty local warlords and the genocidal government in a fight to the death. And this battle might be just the first in the next world war.

Rock solid spec ops fiction

This is a great story that reminds readers/listeners of this genre that not all the bad@$$ dudes (fictional or real) are GWOT tier one guys. Good break down of weapons, vehicles, locations, etc. Reads nearly like a strory version of something that could have conceivably happened: plenty of protagonists "don't make it out", there's no shadowy organizations good or bad, human characters with issues. I particularly like the Tommy Scarred Wolf character. Great action scenes. If you like this genre absolutely get into this book.

What A Blast! A-Team meets the Expendables.

This guy can write! Great action packed "mercenary" type story with very likeable "good guys" and very dislikable "bad guys". I've read reviews from military/action writers praising Henry Brown's skills but due to my "wish list" being so full I haven't been able to listen to any of his books till' now and I seriously regret not doing it sooner. Very impressive for what I believe to be his first action book. Without a doubt I'll be listening to the sequel, "Tier Zero"- if the reviews are accurate it's suppose to be even better than "Hell and Gone". The narrator did a very good job with the dialogue-no complaints.
