Publisher's summary

Dan Shepherd stared at the canvas ceiling above his bed as the dawn light slowly strengthened. His tent was pitched on the edge of the airfield outside Sarajevo in Bosnia.

1995, and Dan 'Spider' Shepherd is on active service as a paratrooper in war-torn Sarajevo. Frustrated by the army, when he is tasked with accompanying an SAS patrol in the area, he realises that the SAS is where he belongs.

Another short story by Stephen Leather

Hard Targets was just released this week, but it is set in 1995 early in Dan 'Spider' Shepherd's military career before he joined the British Special Air Services group. It is set in Bosnia where the British troops are attempting to protect the Muslim Bosnian people from Serbs in a (mostly) civil war. The ending of the story is especially clever.
