Publisher's summary

A riveting serial killer thriller

Her beautiful face, serene and immobile, resting on her folded arm. Her long, luscious hair, undulating gently in the evening breeze. Her eyes half-closed, a hint of a smile on her pale lips, as if to welcome an unseen lover.

When the body of a young woman is found in her own backyard, a week after her disappearance, evidence leads investigators to a chilling conclusion. She is not the first victim of a serial killer no one knew existed. She most definitely is not the last.

FBI Special Agent Tess Winnett joins the local detectives assigned to the case and searches for answers in the intriguing investigation that offers a plethora of forensic evidence, yet no viable leads. When another body is found, the search intensifies, and details about the killer's unusual signature emerge. He likes to stalk his victims before abducting them. He likes to show them a flash of what's coming, a foreboding warning of their grim futures.

At first, she caught a glimpse of a man, standing in the shadows, watching her.

She thought she saw his eyes, and the sight of them chilled her to the bone.

She saw his hands, and they were the hands of a killer.

She caught a Glimpse of Death.

Join smart, relentless Tess Winnett and her seasoned team on a heart-stopping hunt for a serial killer, who mercilessly takes lives, preying on young, unsuspecting mothers. Resourceful, creative, and uncompromising, Tess will stop at nothing to catch the killer before he shatters another innocent life, taking listeners on a memorable, white-knuckled journey in this masterful, riveting, serial killer thriller.

The best-selling author of Dawn Girl and The Watson Girl is back with another suspenseful, riveting, crime thriller. If you're a fan of David Baldacci, Michael Connelly, and James Patterson, you will enjoy listening to Leslie Wolfe.

Conflicted review

I admit I had mixed feelings about this book. The series is well written and suspenseful and the plot twists keep you immersed for the most part.Where I had problems with the victims who were portrayed as total idiots who showed no evidence of being able to see red flags of suspicion right in front of their eyes!!!! I would have enjoyed it more if not for that. And it wasn't bad enough to keep me from looking forward to this next book in this series as I really enjoy the characters and their interactions!

Tess Winnett is amazing .. !!

There were several twists in here that I really liked and did not see coming at all which just made for that much more of an interesting read for me. Unfortunately, I started reading this book too near bedtime and yes, while you were having breakfast this morning, I was reading this book. Ugh, I hate when that happens, but not really, that means it was a great read and I just couldn't put it down!!

FBI AGENT

I love her books. Tess is the reason why. Her relationships with people are the best. This is my fourth Leslie Wolfe audible. I can’t get enough.

Very Good Mystery and narration.

This was a good mystery. It had me guessing for quite a while and there was a surprise. I really liked all the characters for the most part. There were a couple of the cops Tess was in charge of that seemed sorta stupid at times not thinking like a detective. But the story was still good.

The story line and plot was good. The bad guys are truly BAD! There is some graphic scenes so if you are sensitive skip this book. If not, and you like a good mystery this is a great listen/read. Serial Killers and Rapists so you are warned.

The story flowed very well and was easy to follow, not full of filler nonsense and there was a lot of great dialogue throughout the entire book.

I like this author's writing style and may have to check out more books by his.

As for the narration, This was my first time listening to Andrew Tell and I liked him a lot. He did a good job on the female voices and had a nice reading voice. I will listen to him again.

Made my long distance trip fly by!

Just when I thought I had it figured out, the plot twisted. This is the second book by Wolfe that I have listened to and it didn't disappoint. I will listen to more. It has a great story line and the narrator did a great job- it wasn't overdone like some other books I've listened to lately.

Criminal Minds fans should love this one!

Leslie Wolfe has done it again. While recuperating from the stab wound that nearly killed her in 'The Watson Girl', Special Agent Tess Winnett unofficially begins consulting with local detectives to catch a serial killer. This killer begins terrorizing his victims by giving them a glimpse of death before abducting them. The investigation becomes more intriguing and frustrating as the case becomes more puzzling.

Ms. Wolfe uses a method that was entirely unique to me to find a suspect that no one seems to be able to describe. She wove together a coherent plot and had them catch the suspect with credibility. Andrew Tell does a terrific job once again of narrating the story. He makes it so easy to listen as he manages to voice each character differently.

I love the evolution of the teamwork and growing friendship between Tess and her local detective team. I look forward to many more investigations with them.

This audiobook was gifted to me but posting a review is my choice. I really enjoy Leslie Wolfe's books and purchase everyone of them. The Audible book just lets me enjoy the book easier by being able to listen to it when I can't read.

Enjoyable fun story

Fun quick book that pulled me along from beginning to end. Enjoyed the plot and pacing. The characters felt pretty well rounded. I wasn't sure going in if I'd care for the male narration if the protag was female but it worked. Kudos. My one complaint was the dialog in several places felt forced and flat but didn't stop me at all from hitting the end. Would definitely recommend.
