What made the experience of listening to Glass Houses the most enjoyable?
This novel kicked off at pace and you were immediately wrapped up in the story of a life changing accident where the central characters lives become entwined. The opening premise that an error of judgement brings both tragedy and blame is overtaken by the notion of atoning for ones mistakes.
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favourite character was Etta, she was believable and I empathised with her need to stay involved to deal with some of her own demons.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
I most enjoyed the ending, it was very satisfying as a reader, I can often be left high and dry when finishing some books but definitely not in this case.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It is a book that prompts a great deal of thought with a rollercoaster of feelings for the characters covering a range of emotions from utter contempt to pure compassion.
Any additional comments?
As well as enjoying this book for my own pleasure, it would make a great book club read, there are so many talking points and it will definitely divide opinion in terms of moral judgement. Ms Buxton has you hooked with a great plot and you really care how the characters lives evolve, the twists and turns and if it really is ever possible to pull your life back together once catastrophe has struck. This novel has great drama and is hard to stop listening, perfect holiday entertainment.
