Publisher's summary

Once, I was nothing. Hungry, abandoned, wandering, and alone. An adolescent street rat fighting for crumbs.

Then a chance encounter changed my entire world. A man in an expensive suit asked me how much my life was worth.

I didn't have an answer because I didn't know. He asked if I thought it was worth killing for.

Impulsively, I said yes....

He found me, then fostered me, and, in the interim, turned me into a killing machine. A modern day La Femme Nikita.

Now, I only have one mission. To avenge the death of the man who saved me.

There's an invisible war on the streets. Us against them. Family against family. Power against power.

They call me Ghostface Killer because they never see me coming.

I understand the weight of that danger. The hazard. The jeopardy. Because, now, here I stand, three months pregnant with the barrel of a gun pressed to my head because I never saw him coming....

GFK is a romantic suspense with dark elements. Listener discretion is advised.

Graphic rape of a 14 year old by a police officer.

I like dark but I do not like child porn. Right from the start the 14 year old child is sexually abused by two men. The graphic rape of her by a police officer was horrible and very unnecessary to the story. If child rape is not your thing, then I would suggestion skipping the entire first chapter.

Chapter two starts with her being age 20 and from there the story gets better. Low rating is based solely on graphic child rape.

Who gives dogs M&M?

Okay I know this section is for a review but hold on... who gives dogs chocolate? Weren't they suppose to get sick from those especially if she give it to them as a treat?

Okay, so here was the review:
The story was good but the narrator's voice was ... meh. I felt like she was too breathy the whole time and it got annoying most of the time. Overall, I like it. I would recommend it to someone who likes mafia conflicts and sexual tension but don't read this is you're a reader that is strongly against child abuse. Read with caution.

Ghostface Killer was great!

Would you listen to Ghostface Killer again? Why?

Yes I would listen to this story again and again. It was a ton of twist and turns that kept me on edge. Stevie was a bad a$$!!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

After the first surprise I didn't know when the next one was going to happen.. it was full of twist. Stevie was a foster kid who was turned in to a killer and that kept me interested. I can't say to much without giving away the story. I recommend if you like hot alpha males and strong women.

What does Muffy Newtown and Jacob Morgan - epilogue bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Muffy made the book hilarious that I wouldn't have been able to do reading it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes I would of loved to listen to this in one sitting.

Mind Blowing

M Never is an author that will always tell a story with so many layers, you are never even close to the same place you started. And that is true for Ghostface Killer.

Stevie is an orphan that is brought into a mob family and turned into a killer. She is such a badass. Scared of nothing and no one, emotions turned off and seemingly content with her life. Until one of her hits turns out to be the one person she just can't kill, Baz. The lies and the secrets between Stevie and Baz are eventually exposed and you will never suspect where this story ends up.

I loved everything about this book. It gripped me from the beginning and held me there, by the throat, gasping for air, just trying to breath my way through until the end. Every time a new secret was exposed, I let out an audible exhale because I was so engrossed. This isn't a warm and fuzzy book. It's not for the light hearted. It's dark and gritty and difficult and... just, DARK.

Muffy Newtown did amazing. She WAS Stevie. I truly felt her become this character and of course she did an amazing performance of all the other characters as well. She is an excellent narrator.

Jacob Morgan ONLY narrates the epilogue. A lot of people are angry because he is listed as a narrator and only narrates that tiny bit. I understand and there's probably a better way of listing a narrator that only narrates an epilogue. But now that a few people have listed, you are forewarned.

WHAT A WILD RIDE!!!

Wow that was a wild ride! You think you have it all figured out but you don't, then you do, then you don't, over and over!!

When I started this audiobook I wasn't sure If I would be able to like Stevie. She just wasn't my kind of character, it wasn't her, it was me LOL! I have a hard time with a female character who is too heartless and I thought she might be like that. Thankfully that only lasted a few chapters and then I loved her! From the beginning, I was hooked! I needed to know where the story was going and what was going to happen to these characters. Baz was a character I liked from the very beginning! He felt very honest and I loved that, not to mention he was HOT! The balance of violence & sex was perfect (lots of both)! I really enjoyed this book very much and will continue to follow this author's audiobooks for sure! After Moto, I knew I had to listen to anything that came out by M.Never!

The narration was PERFECT!!! Erin Mallon is my favorite narrator so I knew going in that I would love it and I have to say this might be her best work yet IMHO!!! When you forget who the narrator is and only hear the characters, that to me is amazing work! Jacob Morgan only narrated the epilogue and honestly that worked perfectly for me too! That is because his voice is a little quiet and mellow it really wasn't a shocking difference from Erin's voice for Baz throughout the book! Sometimes I notice the voice & tone for a specific character is so drastically different between the narrators that is distracts so much from the story but that was not the case with this book. Great casting choices!!!

Dark romance lovers will devour this

I felt so many emotions with this book it was hard to keep track. I was disgusted, I was sad, I was annoyed. But then I was happy and charmed, and angry and happy again. Seriously, if there was an emotion, I felt it. M Never has an amazing talent for writing characters that you just can’t help but have a connection and reaction to.

I really liked the plot of this book. A character that has been beaten down so often that she builds herself up and is a strong, capable woman. I loved that. I think that is one of the reasons I loved Stevie so much, she didn’t take any crap, she could hold her own. I think falling in love actually made her stronger. She had something to fight for and she fought for all she was worth. Baz was also a great character, I loved him to begin with, then he got a little dodgy (hey, he’s a guy with complex issues, don’t judge) but once he broke down and got himself sorted I just completely fell in love with him. He stepped out of his comfort zone and went against everything he wanted to protect the people he loves. He was confident but vulnerable, sweet and badass. I only have one question – the beard…why?!?! And you all know how I love to have characters to hate and this book sated that need, I hated certain characters so, so, so much! This book just really grabbed me and took me on a heck of a ride.

With that being said I don’t feel the prologue was necessary, I think the book could have started at chapter one. Stevie alluded to the events enough in her thoughts and reactions that we knew something had happened. The revelation of telling Baz would have had a greater impact if the listener didn’t already know, in detail, what had happened. Plus, we really didn’t need it twice. Part of this will be because I struggle with the subject and wasn’t expecting it. Being hit with it in the first few minutes kinda put a dampener on it for me, in fact, I turned it off and had to think about whether I wanted to continue. I did continue and enjoyed the story, as stated above. The relationship between Baz and Stevie is actually quite beautiful. The twist at the end was very clever and I didn’t see it coming, I was in shock and may have shouted at my phone as I listened to it lol. Although the revelation that happened I did know, from the get go, again, that would have been more of a shock and major revelation had we not had the prologue. But that is just one person's opinion.

Jacob Morgan narrated the epilogue and I must be honest, he was the pull for me to get this book in the first place, so I was a little disappointed to find out he only narrated the epilogue…which he did wonderfully, as always, however, as I was listening I thought it wasn't really necessary. Muffy could have done the entire book, that is how amazing her performance was. Muffy Newtown was absolutely fantastic! I adored her performance, there wasn’t one part or one character that she didn’t excel at. Her male characters are amazing, I even had to check that it was still her at times…just in case they sneaked in another narrator while I wasn’t paying attention. I feel like she has totally ruined my JM narrator crush and now I’m all MN narrator crushing.

Warning: This is a dark romance. It contains violence, dubious consent, suicidal thoughts and the sexual assault of a minor (in the prologue, if you struggle with this trigger, you might want to skip ahead to chapter one). Listen at your own discretion.

5 🌟 Is not enough!! An amazing ride.

A complete and utter wild ride worth of every acolade. A very strong female lead with a backstory that is very sad yet it gives the reader an insight into a broken soul who finds healing in the most unlikely of places. The narration is completely stellar and beyond amazing. Muffy Newtown delivers in spades!! M. Never really has a gift for plotting and for making the reader go through her story with faith so she then can slap you with twists and turns. An amazing audio. A serious top 5 for me this year.

Will suck you in!

It may trigger some - this is your warning.

Right from the beginning, it will suck you in. The story is dark and beautiful and loaded with plot twists. Stevie grew up at an early age and experienced something very awful. She found love and light amidst the dark and dangerous world she live in but life fell apart when she discovered the betrayal and deceit from the very people she loved and was fiercely loyal to. Now she had to make decisions that will change her life and the person she loves the most.

Narration was great! Muffy did a good job and it's nice to hear Jacob's narration at the end (Im a big fan so I did wish he narrated more lol). I think the casting was great for this book.

This is my second M. Never book and she is officially a one-click for me.

should be called PORN!

I don't know what the hell this author was thinking when writing this book except :SEX:, but i didn't appreciate it one bit!! Audible certainly didn't examine the content of this book, but it was not about a mystery. It is going back NOW!
