Publisher's summary

Best-selling author Robert K. Tanenbaum astonishes with Fury, his most explosive book yet in the staggeringly popular Butch Karp/Marlene Ciampi series.

In Brooklyn, a female jogger is brutally raped, and the assailants are convicted and later exonerated by the Kings County DA. Now the guilty are filing a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against the city of New York, the police, and the two assistant DAs who tried the case. While the cops and the criminal justice system are under media assault and opportunist political demagoguery, Karp has suspicions that there is corruption within his own office.

Against a backdrop of Russian mobsters and corrupt lawyers, Butch and Marlene are on a mission to restore the system's lost dignity and bring the rapists to justice. All the while, terrorists are at it again, planning to blow the roof off Times Square on New Year's Eve. Alas, the Karp family finds itself in lethal jeopardy, and to survive, they must team up and fight their greatest battle yet.

Robert K. Tanenbaum has written a mindboggling thriller involving a web of corruption and courtroom confrontations. Fans of Butch Karp, as well as the classic New York crime drama, will find plenty to sink their teeth into with Fury.

Three Books in One. Only One Book Worth A Liste

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. I am a long time Tannenbuam fan. This book rambled about Jewish Religion and some ridiculous Terrorist Plot with MOLE PEOPLE??

Has Fury turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, if Tannenbaum sticks to what he does best which is legal drama. If I want a book about Jewish Religion I will buy one. This is the second book in a row that he has tried to feature Karps daughter as a, Hmmm I don't really know what her role is!!! This book took on a ridiculous nature when he shifted over to the terrorism side. Terrorism had no role in this book and Tannenbaum is no Terrorism writer,

What three words best describe Richard Ferrone’s performance?

Marginal At Best

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Absolutely Not.

Any additional comments?

Stick to what you know best which is Legal Drama. If not, give your fans a break and let them know you will ramble on about Jewish Religion and Terrorism.

Inconsistent details

I have been listening to this series in order this summer. Loved the first handful of books. Then got to a few that were entertaining but very short. Like 5 hours vs. 18 hours. Thankfully that has changed in the last few I’ve read/listened to. In the book before this one in the series, Hoax, I noticed the first error. Near the end it talked about Butch just missing Tran after he once again saved Marlene. This book claims they have never met. But Tran LIVED AT MARLENE’S OFFICE in a previous book and took care of Marlene and Butch’s children. Butch has most certainly met the man!!

And in this book it says that Marlene’s father worked at and then bought a grocery store and expended to buy several other fruit stands. In previous books he was a plumber and boxer. In the last book one of the recurring homeless people - booger, has wispy blonde hair. In this one he has dark hair.

It is disappointing and makes me wonder if someone else starting writing these books for him. How do I know his characters better than he does?

Fury

Tannenbaum pulls you in creating the backstories to compliment to overlying story. The suspense is riveting and the character development is outstanding. Another must read.

Every stereotype imaginable

There was the slimy race baiter interested only in money and sex with young girls, the untalented newspaperwoman who slept her way up, the disgusting, unredeemable gang rapists, the strident man -hating woman lawyer (and all the long suffering men who had to work with her), the conniving young woman who falsely accuses an innocent man and so many others I’ve lost count. Even my favorite narrator could not rescue this book. I listened to about half before giving up. My kingdom for one character that wasn’t a cartoonish stereotype!

My first Tannenbaum

What would have made Fury better?

Since the first 1/3 of the book was taken up by explaining who/what happened in the previous books, I was slogging along until it began to pick up. Still not my fav, but tolerable. I don't know why the entire background of previous books had to be explained to the reader before the story could begin.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not a Tannenbaum

What about Richard Ferrone’s performance did you like?

Good pacing, good speed of reading, good emphasis

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Intriguing story
