Editorial Reviews

On the day that Amy Klasse loses her job on children's TV to Red, a dancing rooster, she also meets gorgeous veterinarian Jake Elliott. It's love at first sight. But when Red disappears while being treated by Jake, Amy is the number one suspect. Hounded by news crews, Amy and Jake attempt to find the real culprit as they fall more and more in love. This cozy mystery is much more romance than crime, and a little short on plot. But C.J. Critt narrates with warmth and humor, giving to each slightly larger-than-life character a voice so redolent of backstory that the listener smiles throughout.

Publisher's Summary

When Amy Klasse loses her TV job to a dancing chicken, handsome veterinarian Jake Elliott rescues her with an offer to be his receptionist. Jake just can't resist a damsel in distress, and Amy certainly doesn't mind Jake's charming sincerity. Then, the job-stealing chicken suddenly disappears and Amy is suspected of foul play. Amy and Jake search for clues to prove her innocence. But will Jake be able to show Amy that love, too, is a mystery worth solving?

BEFORE Janet became GREAT!!

This book is difficult to listen to, meanders about and is often out on a tangent. Janet is (in my opinion) the second best author of humorous romance on the planet (sorry - Jennifer Crusie is funnier) but this is just not done in her usual charming and captivating style. Don't waste your credit!

IF all you want is several hours of 'his chest was glistening...' and 'her pouty lips' without any real plot or reason for this existing, buy this book. As a fan of 'Stephanie Plum' by Evanovich, I was supremely disappointed and felt the money spent on this audio book was a total waste. I was a little shocked that such a good author could write such a boring, lame book. Don't get me wrong. I've read good romance books. They generally have a real plot somewhere among the sweat. This pretended it did. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY
