Harry Starke loves a cold case, but this one is really cold - more than a hundred years cold.
Family Matters is a whimsical tale, a flight of fancy. It takes place on the lonely coast of Maine, where Amanda, a true believer in the paranormal, has inherited - you guessed it - a haunted house. Or at least that's what the rumors say.
It all begins when Amanda inherits the house, substantial assets, and a large sum of money from her grandmother. The windfall comes with a request to look into the disappearance of Elizabeth, Amanda's great-great-grandmother, more than a hundred years ago.
Harry, a skeptic, a down-to-earth investigator who believes only in the facts, has a tough time dealing with Amanda's...fantasies? We all know that the imagination can play tricks on a susceptible mind, especially when that mind is under stress. But is it just their imaginations? Could it be something more?
You'll have to be the judge.

Well Done Departure from B. Howard ala Harry Stark
Of the Harry Starke series, this is near the top. A close second. Over the last several months, I have had the pleasure to listen to each of the audio versions in the Harry Starke set. What occurred to me is that what started as a very good Private Eye character has evolved into a Great One!
It did! The mystery ... I wont do Spoilers ... just sayin' I'm not sure that Bob Vila, Norm Abrams and the crew could even help with This Old House! lol.
As mentioned, Yes, for the Harry Starke series and one or two other audio books!
I have always enjoyed his renditions. This one doesn't disappoint!
I did want to. It took several just because there were interruptions that needed attention.
This isn't the "typical" Harry Starke book. If you enjoy puzzles, mystery, this will be a great choice.
Thank you for the opportunity to listen and review Family Matters!
This audiobook was provided by the narrator at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review. Thanks, Tom Lennon!
