Publisher's summary

After learning that she comes from a family of witches - and adopting a familiar named Alistair - artist Annabelle Britton has made beautiful Portsmouth, New Hampshire her home. Together, with her coven, this good witch is trying to put a stop to magic and murder most foul.

When Anna takes Alistair to see local veterinarian Ramona Forsythe, they meet the most famous cat in town: Ruby the Attitude Cat, spokes-feline for a pet food brand. But then Ramona turns up dead and Ruby goes missing. It seems like the murderer used magical means, so it's up to Anna and Alistair to catch a killer and cat-napper as only a canny cat can.

It just keeps getting better.

I really enjoy this series. It reminds me of the awkward moments in my life when i was trying to be super woman. Young and trying to figure things out. Looking back those were good times. Especially learning to trust your own institutions.
The narrator is just perfect to me. Cant wait for the next book.

Two and a half stars

This is a slow moving long drawn out story that is very close to being annoying. There are too many descriptions and too much second guessing of everyone's actions and thoughts. I will probably get the next book to find out what happens with her family. But if that one is long and drawn out it will be the last one

Nsrrator

I’ve read two of this series now and really enjoyed them. I do wish someone would help the narrator with the pronunciation of double consonants. It’s a little disconcerting.

Great story

The author and narrator paired well together. I enjoyed listening. I especially loved the familiar and his roaming ways.

Fun cozy mystery

Another fun, cozy mystery from Delia James. This is the 3rd installment in The Witch’s Cat Mystery series and is on par with the previous 2. A fun, simple mystery, squeaky clean, and a lovely way to spend an afternoon or 2. The simplicity and lightness make this a great choice for something to listen to while you’re doing housework, yard work, biking or walking—you can be doing other things and not miss anything, and it makes the work go by much faster.
In addition, even though it’s 3rd in the series, each character is given enough of an introduction that you could start in the middle and not be lost.
The narration is solid—she occasionally sounds a little stiff; it’s not an effortless reading; but it’s good enough to keep listening.
Ms James’ true genius is in capturing the animals of the story—especially the titular hero Alistair the cat. He’s brilliantly rendered.
Because the story is exactly what it promises to be and exactly what I was expecting, I’m giving the overall 5 stars even though story and narration got 4 stars each individually. Really looking forward to the next book in this series!!

Artificially long.

I had a difficult time staying with this story because it seemed to be made confusing as a reading device as opposed to just being a good story. I suppose I had hoped for more. There’s still potential and I hope to see that potential realized in this series.
