Publisher's summary

In Eyes of Prey, a depressed and unfocused Davenport takes on a macabre case, tracking down a serial killer whose attacks are focused on the eyes of his victims. With all of his current inner turmoil, Davenport isn't sure that he should accept the case when he hears about the murder of Stephanie Bekker, the wife of a prominent physician. But when a second woman dies, her face cruelly maimed like the first, he feels that clutching intensity of interest that means he is involved whether he wants to be or not.

If you could sum up Eyes of Prey in three words, what would they be?

Eyes of prey is well written and works to round out the main character of the series "Lucas Davenport".

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot was well thought out but a little predictable, still non the less enjoyable for guessing what was coming. I was certainly not compelled to keep reading to the end but did eagerly await the next 3 or 4 spare hours to continue the story. In this novel Davenport is hunting his own demons trying to make sense of his own situation and existence and at the same time trying to shut down the terror caused by a crazed doctor and his "mate". The story moved along well and each character comes to life quickly and more thoroughly as you get deeper into the story.

What does Richard Ferrone bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Whilst there seems to be a lot of negativity around Richard Ferrone's reading of this novel I actually think he is what makes it worth "reading", it is very drawn out and "poised" however that is what makes the whole thing a little more contemplative and gives you plenty of time to draw your own characterisation of specific events and scenes. I personally found his style difficult to come to grips with but now I am glad it looks like he is reading the whole series, there is nothing worse than a change in reader during a series of the same characters. His character voices are fine and help to bring them to life. Do your self a favour and listen to the first 2 in the series, get used to Richard as if you did listen to this reading first I think you may be put off; don't be and don't listen to the critics.... make your own mind.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

If your a fan of Lee Child Reacher series, Michael Connelly Bosch series you will provably also enjoy this series. There are some unexpected turns but predictable enough that you know you will enjoy. I'm looking forward to book 4.

Any additional comments?

Overall I only give this 4 stars across the board. The plot is a little too predictable, the audio whilst read well has lots of pops and squeaks and microphone noises. Worth the credit... but that's just my opinion. Cheers and happy "reading" - Shooter

Sorry! Awful narration

What would have made Eyes of Prey better?

Another narrator!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Didn't last longer than 1,5h - tried three times. I am sure it is great. I love the other books.

Would you be willing to try another one of Richard Ferrone’s performances?

NO!
