Publisher's summary

Sheriff's Deputy Dan Fox doesn't expect trouble when he pulls over a speeder outside of the lonely West Texas town of Exile...but he gets it in the form of Megan Leary. Meg - an Exile native - was acquitted of her mother's brutal slaying 15 years ago, but many residents still believe in her guilt. As Meg helps a friend find her missing daughter, the bodies start to fall. As enemies begin coming out of the woodwork in the formerly sleepy Texas town, Dan and Meg have to band together for their very survival because there are still long-buried secrets that someone will kill to keep hidden in Exile, Texas.

It’s worth a read

The narrator was fantastic and I am sad to learn that this was his only narrated book.

The story was good, although not as good as Stillhouse Lake, which is another of Ms. Conrad’s books. It was fun to read about a small Texas town, and the political intrigue was pretty great. It had me until the very end, and I feel it fell a little flat.

It reminded me a lot of Nic Pizzolatto’s Galveston, so if you liked that one, you’ll love this!

Brilliantly written, brilliantly narrated.

They say the best stories make you homesick. Not so much for time period or setting, but for the story itself. As a fan of Jamieson Price's work and a writer, myself, this audiobook was nine hours of pure heaven. The marriage of Mr. Price's narration with Roxanne Longstreet Conrad's rich and compelling storyline, filled with fresh metaphors and highly complex original characters, has caused me to revisit this audiobook over and over again. I only wish that I had more stars to give it. A brilliant audiobook from every angle.

Sincerely,
Lisa G.

Great book.

The book kept my attention from the start. I hope there will be a sequel.

Wish it didnt have GD in it all the time.

I would have given it 5 stars if it didnt have the cursing of Gods name. I can handle cursing but saying the lords name in vain like that made me dislike the book. I don't think I'll be listening to another one if its got the same language.
