Didn't finish it.
I didn't finish this book. I thought it was going to be good, but I like strong/smart protagonists and this one is decidedly not either of those things. (VERY SMALL SPOILER ALERT) For instance, she's a lawyer, but can't figure out how to stop an unauthorized person from removing a loved one from a hospital? Really? She has a boss with all kinds of experience with the seedy side of lawyering but decides not to call him when she receives a bribe/threat? She goes to law school and passes the bar but throughout the process hasn't received any training in how to prepare a witness? Just really stupid. :-/

inconsistency and plot contrivance
Would you try another book from C. E. Tobisman and/or Carly Robins?
Possibly, with a grain of salt. If this is the first in a series, the author may hit his/her stride in future books.
What was most disappointing about C. E. Tobisman’s story?
One example: Any sizable law firm would employ a professional investigator and certainly would not send a young female newbie junior associate out alone to track down documents, witnesses, etc. Especially when a prime witness has died in questionable circumstances. I guess the "lady in peril" element is meant to add excitement, but it merely comes across as a contrivance.
What three words best describe Carly Robins’s voice?
Good character range.
