Publisher's summary

New York Times best-seller Blackstock delivers a gripping suspense about the deadly consequences of a husband’s lies.

When Juliet Cole’s husband of 15 years is murdered before her eyes, she thinks it was a random shooting. Devastated and traumatized, she answers hours of questioning, then returns home to break the tragic news to her sons. But a threatening voicemail escalates this from a random shooting to a planned, deliberate attack.

Juliet realizes that she and her children are in danger too - unless she meets the killers’ demands. But as she and her sisters untangle the clues, her husband’s dark secrets come to light. The more she learns, the more her life is dismantled. Was her husband an innocent victim or a hardened criminal?

Loved the Story... but why the switch???

What made the experience of listening to Distortion the most enjoyable?

Disappointed in the change in narrator. I was driving a long ways so I stuck with it, but almost hurled the iPod out the window going over the Golden Gate Bridge.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Absolutely. I think the story's even better than the first one.

What didn’t you like about Nan Gurley’s performance?

Uh, I don't want to be mean, cause we all have to eat, but BIG difference in audio quality, sound and acting ability. Recording seemed echoey, kinda tinny. (Wow, am I getting snobby now! Sorry!) Why the switch? You start a series with a solid narrator, and you switch? Seemed like just a reading, not a performance.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Love the sisters' relationship, they make me laugh and reminds me of my own family; but again, this reader seemed distant. Her writing is better than ever.

Any additional comments?

Terri Blackstock is the best mystery Christian writer I listen to. Go back to the other narrator or one of equal talents. Give Truth Stained Lies a listen, Otherwise, I'm buying only a hardcopy of the next installment and not the audio.

Distortion

What made the experience of listening to Distortion the most enjoyable?

The narrator was excellent. Very easy listening.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Most definitely. There were unexpected villains, life and death injuries. Also poor Julliette as she found out what was behind her husband's murder.

Which character – as performed by Nan Gurley – was your favorite?

I couldn't choose a favorite. All were excellent.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The entire ending was phenomenal.

Any additional comments?

I'm looking forward to hearing more books by this author and other performances by this narrator.

Should be listed Christian literature,

A very formulaic and predictable novel written in the tone of a jr. hi level book. If constantly blaming god for what goes wrong and then praising god for what goes well is your thing, then you'll enjoy this story. I found it repugnant. Put that together with a narrator who sounded like a syrupy kindergarten (apologies to kindergarten teachers) teacher and you have a diabetes inducing listen. I couldn't finish it and didn't care how it ended.

Exciting ... loved it!

We love all of Terri Blackstock's books. This one is no exception. It was heart-wrenching at times and kept us guessing what the outcome would be. We highly recommend this series and are anxiously awaiting book #3!

Fantastic!

I can’t get enough of Terri Blackstock’s books! I’m so glad to have found another Christian author that incorporates God into their story. I have always loved reading. Now that I have someone to read it to me, I love it even more.

Great Story Bad Narrator

I enjoy Terri Blackstock's books and this story was a very good one. I struggled to finish it and almost quit more than once. The narrator's tone never changed. she didn't change for different characters at all. I struggled through the entire book with listening to her whine every single. I am disappointed because the story is good and deserves much better. 😔
