Publisher's summary

Before the multi-million, runaway bestseller The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown set his razor-sharp research and storytelling skills on the most powerful intelligence organization on earth—the National Security Agency (NSA)—in this thrilling novel, Digital Fortress.

When the National Security Agency’s invincible code-breaking machine encounters a mysterious code it cannot break, the agency calls its head cryptographer, Susan Fletcher, a brilliant, beautiful mathematician. What she uncovers sends shock waves through the corridors of power. The NSA is being held hostage…not by guns or bombs but by a code so complex that if released would cripple U.S. intelligence.

Caught in an accelerating tempest of secrecy and lies, Fletcher battles to save the agency she believes in. Betrayed on all sides, she finds herself fighting not only for her country but for her life. It is a battle for survival—a crucial bid to destroy a creation of inconceivable genius that threatens to obliterate the balance of world power…for all time.

A spell binder of adventure

This is another Dan Brown novel that never disappoints. Strong and exciting. Dan Brown continues to captivate the imagination with endless wonder and constant adventure, that takes you to fascinating historical parts of the world. It left me wanting to find and read more of his novels.

I liked it - sort of and more like 3.5

This is the first time I have ever reveiwed a book in writing though I do recommend books for people to read often by mouth.

I really like Dan Browns books and had purchased this book in paperback but never read it. Once I got used to the reader's voices and got through the first part I was hooked. I think it would be better if you could rewind a bit or fast forward a bit if you wanted to, but putting that aside the reader actually sounded like Ray Milland when he did his British accent which I quite liked actually. The story was sort of predictable with some surprises at the end but not really in the same class as either Angels and Demons or The DaVinci Code so as long as you don't expect that kind of writing you wont be disappointed. A good read but not worth so much money - it should have been way cheaper as it certainly doesn't deserve the price that it costs and I probably would have given it a higher rating if it had been cheaper. But I did like it and really like listening to books on my Ipod.

Dan is on a Roll

From this book began a string of books that lay the foundation of sequels and masterful writings that I have ever read by this gentle soul! This book cannot be explained - it must be listen to as the reader is soo good! Danger, intrigue, love, sex and deception - all in a book! It is amazing what the pen can do!

I loved this book and Dan once again is a master of the written word! A must read - even better when it is listened to! A most exciting and delicious book!

Predictable but still gripping

Classic Dan Brown Story line. Entertaining and gripping, but predictable. Not his best work, but good non the less.

Another great Dan Brown book

Cleverly written. Dan Brown conceived another yarn in a different venue. Brown to me is a cross between Tom Clancy and Grisham. Well researched topic and well written storyline of artificial intelligence, A thriller to the end,
