Publisher's Summary

The policeman on Trudi Adamson's doorstep brought the worst news possible - her husband Trent has been burned to death in a freak car accident. Suddenly a widow after years of marriage, Trudi finds herself alone, unprovided for and increasingly aware of her ignorance of her late husband's world. Why had he resigned from his job without telling her? Where was all his money? And more terrifyingly still - is he really dead? As Trudi experiences shock after shock, she is forced to re-examine her belief in Trent, and ultimately herself. Compelled to leave the cosy nest of her old life, she is out in the open and fighting for her very survival.

Disappointing

This falls far short of the books in Hill's Andy Daziel series, becoming less and less credible as it goes along.

thoroughly enjoyable

Any additional comments?

did not give it 5 stars only because i reserve the fifth for an outstanding book but death of a dormouse was very enjoyable, the narrator did a great job and had a very pleasing tone to her voice. the metaphor of the dormouse was nicely woven into the plot. if you like this series you will most like this departure with a female protagonist.

Thoroughly enjoyable

This book was a great surprise, I was totally hooked from the start. The reader, Di Langford, added so much to what was already a great story. I enjoyed the transition that takes place with the main character Trudi as she realises that she had previously existed in a vacuum and had, with the death of her husband, been brought into a world of suspense and intrigue. I feel lucky I found this one and am not sure what I audio I should choose next....this is a hard one to follow.
