Publisher's Summary

When firefighter Randy Bogart perishes in the arson fire at an abandoned brewery known as the Brewmaster's Widow, Death Bogart and his girlfriend Wren Morgan travel to St. Louis, Missouri, to find closure. They discover that Randy left his badge behind at the firehouse before going to the brewery. But the coroner finds another badge on Randy's body, leaving Death and Wren with more questions than answers.
Desperate to know what really happened, Death and Wren begin to investigate. Their digging leads to a connection between Randy's death and the mysterious Cherokee Caves once used by 19th-century beer barons. But the Brewmaster's Widow is jealous of her secrets. Prying them loose could cost Death and Wren their lives.

Awesome

I really enjoyed this book. Loretta Ross has created two funny, intelligent, witty and well developed characters. Death and Wren are perfect together. I love how she tells other characters in the story that Death is hers. Wren and Death make a great team whether they are hanging out or investigating. The mystery that they are involved in this time, involves Death's brother. This is an emotional and engrossing story. If I could give it 10 stars I would. I can't wait for the next book.

Any additional comments?

With the 3rd book in the series coming out at the time of this review, I wanted to catch up on the 2nd in the series. It picks right back up where the other left off and once again shows that this isn't the typical mystery novel - for the better.

The characters are still fun and the story is entertaining. This one had a few less clues and a few leaps of believably but with the two main characters still clever and interesting it's just a fun read. I will definitely be continuing with the series for as long as it goes. Final Grade - B+
