Publisher's Summary

The divine Phryne Fisher returns in the 15th seductive installment in the classic Phryne Fisher whodunnit series. This one includes shipboard romances, champagne cocktails, erotic photographers, jealous husbands, mickey finns, blackmail, and attempted murder. A succession of jewelry thefts from first-class passengers is hardly the best advertisement for a cruise liner, particularly when it is likely that it is a passenger who is doing the stealing. Phryne Fisher, with her Lulu bob, green eyes, Cupid's bow lips and Chanel traveling suits, is exactly the sort of elegant sleuth to take on a ring of jewelry thieves on the high seas - or at least, aboard the SS Hinemoa on a luxury cruise to New Zealand. With the Maharani - the Great Queen of Sapphires - as the bait, Phryne rises magnificently to the challenge.

Stylish cruise ship mystery with unusual heroine

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and have read several others now in the series. The heroine is a very unusual, brave single woman who rose from rags to riches and leads a unique household and life. Original mystery series set in 1920's Australia.

Phryne Fisher is a delight!

This is part of the Phyrne Fisher series. Offers a fascinating look into Turn of the Century Australia, with a plucky, independent heroine.

Brilliant period drama thriller

When I began to listen to this audiobook,I knew is was a winner. It has everything,a strong lead character, loads of intrigue with a touch of risk!
It is a superb thriller or murder mystery and the narrator was fantastic.
I highly recommend this audiobook and is I feel superior to other leading 1920s books. It reminds me of the very best of Agatha Christie with spice, and hot spice!
Brilliant listen, superb period piece. At the end the author speaks about why she wrote this book and this even enhances the experiences.

Another Hit

Great listen full of lovely imagery. Not keen on the kiwi accent, bit over done and a few Maori words need to be checked for pronunciation . Despite that a fun listen.
