Publisher's summary

Best-selling author, Allen Wyler, (Dead End Deal, Deadly Errors, Dead Ringer, Dead Wrong) is back with a new breakout suspense thriller with a techno edge, Deadly Odds.

Twenty-three year old Arnold Gold is a Seattle-based odds-maker and local computer genius. Described as a 'part-time hacker and full-time virgin' by his friends, the awkward young shut-in flies to Vegas to try and get lucky - in more ways than one. But his high stakes activity on the Net inadvertently thrusts him into a vortex of international terrorism.

Dark Net Hacking has resulted in murder, and now it will take every last bit of Arnold's genius intellect and legendary hacking skill to stay one step ahead of the murderous terrorists, the FBI, the local cops and his lawyer. Gold's only chance to save himself is to find the location of a bomb hidden somewhere in Vegas, and somehow prevent the explosion that will turn Sin City into the scene of the deadliest terror attacks since 9/11 Wyler's wild new thriller is as horrifyingly plausible as it is darkly funny and enjoyable.

Deadly Odds is not only a pause-resisting listen, it's a terrific character-driven story about a young man who lives life through a computer and discovers its dark side. Edgy, twitchy and filled with enough tech savvy detail to keep both the techno-thriller and classic suspense fan enthralled, Deadly Odds is a new generation's thrill ride.

Where was the editor???

I believe a good editor could have saved this storyline by omitting and/or re-phrasing the repetitive qualities the main character exhibited.

Dud

Don't even bother. Story line is ugh, narrator is worse, just don't waste your time.

Mediocre

The author created an unbelievably naive main character who I just couldn’t believe. The narrator’s lack of inflection and phrasing plodded along making parts that could have been exciting as mundane as background information.

Surprisingly good

I bought it on sale on a whim. I was pleasantly surprised. I'll buy more from this author.

just let the main character die

The story could be half as long if all dialog with the nerdy computer genus main character who over thinking every move, should I or shouldn't I, what if this or maybe that was just cut out of the story. By the end of the book I was hoping that he would just made a decision on something even if it he decision killed him as I just wanted the story to end. the main character wasn't very likable and the story dragged on and on. Thankfully it was free book and no money wasted on it.

the story was very believable

my dislike was the writer would over analyze at time's instead of just letting the story explain it self

I should have believed the negative reviews!

This was my first book by Allen Wyler. It's free on Audible so I downloaded it. I don't usually give up on books after 90 minutes but this book is just too annoying!

Instead of dialog we have to listen to Arnold's thoughts and they never end! The book might get better but I will never know. This book had a lot of negative reviews on Audible, they were all right :(

Terrible

It starts out ok then it strays to how a Jewish boy loses his virginity for way too long. Could have been a 1 hour story if you take out all the fluff.
