Who is the beautiful girl found at dawn, on a deserted stretch of white sand beach? What is her secret?
FBI special agent Tess Winnett searches for answers relentlessly. With each step, each new finding, she uncovers unsettling facts leading to a single possible conclusion: Dawn Girl is not the only victim. Her killer has killed before.
Hiding a terrible secret of her own, special agent Tess Winnett faces her inmost fears, in a heart-stopping race to catch a killer who's getting ready to end yet another life. Will she find the killer in time? Will she be able to stop him? At what cost?
The rules of the game have changed.
So has the textbook definition of a serial killer.

Great Read

I enjoyed the way the author showed the thinking process to solve the case. I felt like I was right there at times rooting for the characters to get the guy.

A bit of a let down

The first thing that needs to be addressed is why they would choose a male narrator for a book about a female detective and female victims of a serial killer? Sure there were some moments where a male character had a say but predominantly it was a female prospective and the male narrator attempting to sound female was distracting and ridiculous. Secondly I never really felt connected to any of the characters so I had no attachment to them and no care about what happened to them. This includes the main character Tess. The story was predictable and slow and facts were stretched to make it believable and the "gut feeling" excuse wore thin after a bit. Finally the big wrap up was just too unbelievable and really a lazy ending. I usually love books like this and have read hundreds. This one just totally missed the mark for me. It's not the worst book I've ever read and some may enjoy it.
