Publisher's Summary

For DI Andrew Hicks, solving a murder is logical: your first suspicions are usually right. So when the brutally beaten body of a young woman is found, his attention focuses closely on the ex-boyfriend.
But then more bodies start appearing, all beaten beyond recognition, and there is no connection between any of the victims. Because this is a new type of killer, one who revels in chaos.
To survive, Hicks must face not only a serial killer with no discernable motive, but the hidden darkness of his own past.

Pay attention

Character driven mystery that could have been more. Like riding on a motorboat on a choppy lake. Speed up, slow down, speed up etc...There were times i couldn't put it down, and there were times when i just about bailed. mosby is a good writer, but he may have reached to high here. all in all, probably worth the credit.

Excellent thriller

I loved this from start to finish, it is a bit gruesome in places which may not suit some readers but it's a tale a a half. David Thorpe's narration is brilliant as always.
The only annoying thing (for me) is that DI Hicks appears to have a gun, which is not the norm for a British Detective.
