Publisher's Summary

When librarian Kathleen Paulson moved to Mayville Heights, Minnesota, she had no idea that two strays would nuzzle their way into her life. Owen is a tabby with a catnip addiction and Hercules is a stocky tuxedo cat who shares Kathleen's fondness for Barry Manilow. But beyond all the fur and purrs, there's something more to these felines.
When murder interrupts Mayville's Music Festival, Kathleen finds herself the prime suspect. More stunning is her realization that Owen and Hercules are magical - and she's relying on their skills to solve a purr-fect murder.

Promising "Cozy" Series

I often read for relaxation, so I'm always on the lookout for new "cozy" series. This is one of the best I've found recently.

One thing that appealed to me right away was that the story takes place in Minnesota, which is where I live. The fictional town of Mayville is situated on Lake Pepin. There are several real Minnesota towns in similar locations - it is a beautiful part of the state. I've visited the area often, so it was easy for me to visualize Mayville.

The pace is brisk, with a mysterious death occuring early in the story. Numerous clues are found, some are "red herrings." I wasn't able to guess the final solution until it was revealed near the end of the book.

Though I like cats, I would not describe myself as "cat person." Owen and Hercules, the main "cat characters", have some very unusual abilities that add an element of fantasy to the story.

I liked protagonist Kathleen Paulson. Many other characters are introduced throughout the story. I'm hoping that some of them will show up in future books of this series.

The 10 plus hours of this story went by quickly for me. I plan to listen to more books in this series.

Magical Mystery Worth a Listen

Would you listen to Curiosity Thrilled the Cat again? Why?

Yes it was very interested I enjoy the all the of the characters and I love the small town feel of the story. This series reminds of Heather Blake's series. I really looking forward to getting to know them all in the book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kathleen, Maggie and of course the cats.

Have you listened to any of Cassandra Campbell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She does a great job I have always enjoyed her I do hope she does the next books in this sereis

Any additional comments?

I think this is a wonderful series for anyone to listen to. I was little surprised at the ending but that is how I like them. I suggest this one to anyone. I have already downloaded the next 2 and hope the 2 after that are loaded up soon.

Great cozy series for cat lovers

This is a lovely cozy series with very solid writing and two fantastic cats. I've grown to love the town characters and the two very smart and mysterious felines, Owen and Hercules. Cassandra Campbell's narration is excellent and suits the narrative well. Definitely one of the better cozy cat mysteries out there.

Librarian and her Cats

I listened to this on the train to and from my holiday destination. It was a great way to pass 6 hours to and 10 hours from.

I enjoyed this mystery set in a small town when a dead body is discovered by the head librarian. The author has a sense of fun amongst the mystery in her writing. The narrator's voice was, to me, suited to this story. My partner found her annoying but then, the book wasn't his style of reading anyway lol.

I look forward to listening to book 2 and do hope the author will include the rest of the series, after book 3, to audible.
