Publisher's Summary

When the home of Alex Cross' oldest friend, Ellie Cox, is turned into the worst murder scene Alex has ever seen, the destruction leads him to believe that he's chasing a horrible new breed of killer. As Alex and his girlfriend, Brianna Stone, become entangled in the deadly Nigerian underworld of Washington DC, what they discover is shocking: a stunningly organized gang of lethal teenagers headed by a powerful, diabolical man - the African warlord known as the Tiger. Just when the detectives think they're closing in on the elusive murderer, the Tiger disappears into thin air. Tracking him to Africa, Alex knows that he must follow. Alone.

Not the same read

I was very surprised by this book. It was almost awful. The narrator made Alex sound like a whinny rookie investigator. I was so disappointed. The only reason I finished listening was for the ending, which by the way left a lot to be desired. If you are new to the Cross series, please don't start with this one. Patterson should return to his writing style when Alex was first introduced. Trying to take us into Alex's personal life and make that a storyline is doing no justice to this character or himself!

all about Africa

This was one of the worst mystery books I have ever read. I am an Alex Cross fan but there was no story line in this book except the tragedies in Africa. If you want o hear about the prisons and refugee camps and other atrocities this book will give it to you. Butif you want an engaging mystery skip this book.
