Publisher's summary

Dying in the middle of the summer in the Florida Keys is sweaty business.

Welcome to Tarpon Cove. Madison Westin has inherited her aunt's beachfront motel in the Florida Keys. Trouble is she’s also inherited a slew of colorful tenant's - drunks, ex-cons, and fugitives.

Only one problem: First, she has to wrestle control from a conniving lawyer and shady motel manager. With the help of her new best friend, whose motto is never leave home without your Glock, they dive into a world of blackmail, murder, and drugs.

This book is a totally mindless fun read. I was not disappointed in the least.

Great Characters!

I listen to books while driving around town and this ticks all boxes for me. I'm able to take breaks while I do errands and come back to the story because it's not too complicated to keep everyone straight. The setting is South Florida and the author weaves a good plot into the environment.
The narrator, Julie Ann Taylor, does a great job of making all the characters come alive with their different personalities and behaviours. Sometimes it's hard too keep everyone straight in audio books but Ms. Taylor does a good job of keeping the voices is consistent for each character. She also conveys emotion really well. It's not the most complicated of books, nor is it spellbinding with tension- but for relaxing and entertainment it's great.

Lots of fun

This mystery is definitely cozy and it doesn't take a genius to figure it out but that's what made it fun. Pretty much a breezy tale although some serious things happen in the course of the story. I enjoyed the narrator a lot, and sometimes I really got the feeling that the first person narrator was real. Loved the many zany characters. I might try another audiobook from the series but might first check other reviews to see if there was a more developed story line. Overall a fun audiobook I'd recommend if you like cozy mysteries like me.

Always enjoy finding a new series!

Happy to find a new cozy with lots of books in the series. I'll continue to listen to the rest, but wished this book which was about 6.5 hours long had another hour or two. There were several places where it felt as though a sentence or a whole paragraph of transition or explanation was missing - story was going along nicely and then suddenly we jumped to another "scene" way too abruptly and I felt lost and as though much more could have been written. And while I don't question and usually go right along with an author's creativity, when the main character knocks the kid out cold with a vase just because he was going to leave her house where he was supposed to be laying low it really was way out of character with the rest of the story. Who would do that? It wasn't for self defense. And then it was just glossed over with no consequences.

Its good but i hope this “mother” thing goes away

The way i keep having to hear “mother” over and over and over kinda reminds me of Psycho like maybe “mother” is gonna end up being dead fir 20 years in a rocking chair. Its just weird. Like why not my mom or something. No but really i enjoyed the story and loved the characters. I just really really got annoyed by that repeating annoyance but not enough to give up the series . Great performance. I was surprised as i thought the narrator may be amateur. But she was really great.
