This is book three in the Sue Lee Mystery series. It is now 1943 and Sue Lee is still working as an Army code breaker and an espionage agent. Sue Lee’s Italian physician friend/lover Tommuso, who had returned to Italy and his wife in book one and emerged in book two working on a hospital ship with a Scotsman physician is helping to save lives primarily of refugees and soldiers.
In her personal life Sue Lee is still on the dangerous trail of the missing Japanese sword that belonged to her Uncle Yoshi. Doctor Jane has arrived it San Francisco from Britain to stay with Sue Lee and help hunt for the sword.
The book is well written and researched and is a delight to read. I can hardly wait for the next book in the series. I like the fact that the books are short only averaging between three and half to four hours. It makes a great change of pace after reading a 15 or 30 hour book.
Jeffrey A. Hering has done an excellent job narrating the books in this series. I like the fact that Hering has been the only narrator. I hate it when a series has a different narrator for almost every book in the series.
