Different Narrator

My wife and I were very disappointed after the stellar performance by J Charles in the previous Deep Black books. I can't say we would have not listened to other Deep Black books, but the absence of Mr Charles is sorely missed. That being said, we found the story line adequate and await listening to Arctic Gold.

Nothing exceptional

The storyline is easy to follow but kind of dragging on. I'll finish the series out of curiosity but that's about it.

Different narrator but give him a chance

I will admit i was fuming when i heard a new narrator. But i gave him a chance. Hes not ad good but does the story justice. This one is a little slower pace but very intriguing. Fun until the end.

Love the narrator!

Skull Session is one of my very favorite books and after listening to Conspiracy I think it is largely due to Christopher Lane. I love his voice and his reading of Conspiracy makes it seem more sinister and dark than the usual narrator who lends a comical tone to the Deep Black series. I totally enjoyed the three times I listened to this book, getting more out of each "listen". I hope they keep Christopher Lane as the narrator and I am definitely going to listen to everything he narrates.

Big changes in Book 6

Enjoyed the series until book 6. Previous narrator was/is great. New narrator is just plain awful. The only reason I persevered until the end was the attachment to the characters

This book seemed to written by somebody other then the author of previous editions. Characters don't seem to have the same personalities or the author just mailed it in. I'm reluctant to try next book and beyond.

Love the Narration!

Where does Conspiracy rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Charlie and Lia are back! And Tommy Karr too! It seems like the further into this series I go, the better it gets. My only complaint, and this goes to all the authors of military thrillers, is that these operatives aren't supermen, but yet they live on through things that would kill us normals. Lia's recovery from her rape is one such issue. She's still in a relationship with Dean, but most women don't even want to be touched after something so traumatic...

Who was your favorite character and why?

Tommy Karr hands down. At first I thought he was just there for comic relief, but he pulls his own, and really helps the team.

Which character – as performed by Christopher Lane – was your favorite?

TOMMY!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nah, Mil-spec thrillers don't move me one way or another.

Coont's name, little else

A mediocre novel that uses Stephen Coonts' name to help sell it. Then to top it off the narrator/performer is annoying. I've heard worse but not if I can help it.

Just awful

I'm sorry to say but this book was terrible. It's the first audiobook that I had to stop listening to. Incredibly unrealistic. Not worth the time I put into it.
