Publisher's Summary

If Charleston were wine, it would be a dry claret. Smell it, savor it as that first sip blooms on your tongue like a red, red rose. Do you feel the warmth as it seeps into your bloodstream? If you do, you've just had your first deception, for Charleston will entertain you, entice and seduce you, but she will never, ever warm you. It is here in the moral ruins of the Holy City, that Arlena Prince loses everything, only to find loss can bring redemption. Go with her now to paradise, to Old Charleston by the Atlantic. But be wary, for though Arlena is saved in the end, you may not be so lucky.

Great to Have a Murder Series Set in Charleston!

If you could sum up Charleston's Elegant Sinners in three words, what would they be?

Charleston's deeper levels.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. Hardly gave me time for a breath scene to scene. Surprised me from every angle.

Have you listened to any of Terry Ward Tucker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. I am now waiting for the next book in this series to come out in Audible. I saw that it's already in kindle form.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I don't want to give the story away, but Raven had several moving moments in the story. I think she wanted to pretend that Arlena, the main character, was like a mother to her since she did not get along with her real mother.

Any additional comments?

If you like Charleston, you're going to love the idea of having a cozy murder series set there. Entertaining to say the least.

Only Bill Bryson should narrate his own work

What disappointed you about Charleston's Elegant Sinners?

Monotone narration. Couldn't distinguish among various characters. Implausible story line. Chose this title because I'm planning a trip to Charleston, and was hoping to pick up some history or, at least, some place names.

Would you ever listen to anything by Terry Ward Tucker again?

Certainly nothing that she narrates.

How could the performance have been better?

With a different narrator.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I do have an hour left on the book, and plan to finish listening, so I suppose something is drawing me. Right now, I can't put my finger on it.
