It would be a stretch to call Fritz Brown a detective. A PI in name only, he washed out of the police force at 25, and makes a cash living doing under-the-table repo work for a sleazy used-car dealer. It’s an ugly job, but Fritz is not one to say no to easy money.
That doesn’t mean he won’t take a case now and then. A caddy visits his office, asking Fritz to dig up dirt on the golf-nut who’s dating his sister. Convinced by the caddy’s suspiciously fat wad of bills, Fritz agrees to investigate, hoping for a chance to meet the girl. Instead he finds himself embroiled in a tangled world of country club intrigue, where wealth can buy innocence and murder is not half as rare as a hole-in-one.

I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!!!!
What did you like best about Brown's Requiem? What did you like least?
"Liked best" nothing. Liked least: Narrator/Story Mix not good. Dick Hill is the narrator who does the Jack Reacher Series which I have read/listened to all of them 19 books and 3 shorts. He hasn't changed the speech pattern or dialect from Reacher to Brown. It just doesn't work for this character. Way to bland and flat. Sorry just didn't like it. Thinking that maybe I didn't catchon to the pace of the author in his writing style, I listened a second time. Same results... Very difficult to finish but I did.
Would you be willing to try another book from James Ellroy? Why or why not?
Well since I already bought Hollywood Nocturnes also narrated by Dick Hill, I don't have a choice I will read/listen to it. I hopes are that maybe the characters and Dick Hill mesh well. ( Wishful Thinking )
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
No, I think maybe a different reader would work. I have read/read other books by Ellis and enjoyed them.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
