Publisher's summary

A New Life series is an epic adventure. Tori Farrell's life is one wild story...escaped from a biker gang and running from drug lords...used by the FBI and hoping to protect her present from her past. It's dark, it's brutal, and it's worth every minute of it!

Are we sure this isnt Non Fiction

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes, this book is chalked up of good fluidity and very easy to follow and a still a good page turner. One moment I have 4 hours left the next think I knew it was 30 minutes left. I was absorbed by it

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked Tori of course but also grew fond of enrique because I enjoy the bad boys with a moment of goodness

What about Lyric’s performance did you like?

I love her ability to emphasize while she is narrating one can see the personalities jump from the page. It was very clearly defined the different people even in multi person conversations

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was thrilled to read this and a bit sad nothing to extreme just once more she left me hungry for more. The Music store scenes were my favorite to hear

"OFF TO LA..."

Tori is off to California, and everything she knew and those she recently met were suddenly gone from her life? Where is Eli? Like everything in her life it all goes poof... Tori is still and likely will always be struggling with her and in this story we find her reaching for the bottle. Until something as simple as strings bring her joy. The one spot of happiness in this story for our Tori is the music store where she gets a job... And someone from her past makes an appearance. The narrator seems to miss many words throughout the story which does take from an audio book. She is clearly spoken which is a plus. Although there seems to be that missing ooomph you want from the narrator when playing each character.

I LIKED IT!

I liked it. The narration was good and kept me entertained. The author did a good job with the characters and plot. I read the first book (Captive) and felt it brought out more emotions than this book but enjoyed it all the same. I look forward to reading more books in this series. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Just WOW

What a spellbound continuation of a heartbreaking story. Tori is such a strong woman and this is the next chapter in her story. Shes known pain and heartache her whole life. Just when things might start looking up for her you realize it's just a facade. Will she every truly be "free". Be allowed to live a life that somewhat resembles normal? This does end on a cliff hanger. As in it literally ends with without ending.

It Was An Ok Second Book In Series

This cannot be read first in this series. It would be like cheating since the first book gives you background information on who Tori is and what has brought her to the place that this book start at.

What I had an issue with on this second book is that there seemed to be a lot of holes in the story - pieces that seemed to be missing. It still leaves me wanting to know how Tori is doing. But same as the first book, most of the men seemed to only want her for their pleasure. Something else I had an issue with was that she supposedly didn't want to be touched but there was a lot of touching going on. I also had an issue with those in authority. Some of what they did, or didn't do, just didn't seem to make sense - didn't seem to have Tori's best interests in mind.

The issue I had with our narrator was that there were scenes where it sounded as if they were recorded in different areas/places. And as in the first book, there were words that sounded as if they were mispronounced. I did feel as if she was reading with no inflection. But again, I can certainly picture her as our main character.

For me, I think the enjoyment would be better in reading this series and then going back and listening to the book - because sometimes you may pick up on something you missed. I like this author and am not ready to give up on this series.

I voluntarily reviewed an Audiobook copy of this book.
