Publisher's summary

So Carlotta Wren's life hasn't turned out as she'd planned. She didn't plan for her parents to skip bail for a white-collar crime, leaving her to raise her brother. She didn't plan on having the silver spoon ripped from her mouth and forgoing college to work retail. She didn't plan on her blue-blood fiancé dumping her. And she didn't plan on still being single 10 years later, working at Neiman Marcus, with no idea where her fugitive parents are. But she's coping. Until -

- her lovable brother is arrested, and the hunky cop decides to reopen her parents' case.

- her brother becomes a body mover for the morgue, and his sexy boss gets Carlotta involved.

- her former fiancé's wife (a good customer) is murdered, fingering Carlotta.

With three men in her life, Carlotta has added motivation to help bag a murderer to keep her own well-dressed body from being next on the list!

Learn to pronounce the dang word!

Honestly, everytime I heard the narrator say the word "garage" I wanted to punch her in the face with my foot. It was distracting and really took away from the story, since whenever she said it I thought about it for at least 30 seconds and missed whatever came next in the story.

What exactly is a geraj?

I enjoyed this book and I also enjoyed the narrator. Her voices were wonderful and I knew who was who for the most part. But I wondered if English was a second language or if she was from a different country. Her pronunciation of certain words (and there were several) drove me crazy. Garage was the worst one and she pronounced it geraj. Every. single. time!! How did no one catch this? The story was good, the plot was a little weak, but overall it was entertaining and I would recommend it. Anyone who might be interested, there was some language but not a lot and there was very few sexy scenes and those were PG 13 at best.

This is a mystery for adults

This is the first mystery I've ever read that is on the spicy side. Nothing gross but it is sexy.
The narrator is very good but her pronunciation of the word "garage" bugs me to pieces! Ugh!
But listen anyway because it's a great story and I can't wait to listen to the next one!

Great story, but-

I would have enjoyed the story more if narrated with a Southern accent rather than...maybe this is a Chicago accent?
Where is it that people pronounce the second syllable or garage to rhyme with the word “badge”. Might not be so bothersome if the word didn’t happen to occur over and over and over in this book. Not sure I will make it through another book with this narrator. PLEASE GET A NEW VOICE FOR THIS SERIES!

It was not funny at all, just sad

I felt very sorry for the main character through the whole book. The reviews called it funny. There was no funny for me. The heroine was so mired down in horrible situations that you could not see ANY happy ending for her. I don't think I will continue with the series.

New favorite Author

After reading all my favorites ,I was looking for something to help me get through my long commutes. I loved this book ! I love Stephanie’s story telling abilities. I was hooked from the first chapter! My only issue was with the narrator, and some of the “voices” she used for a couple of the characters. I’m now searching for Book 2.

Good book/series…reader accent is painful

The accent of the reader of this book is painful. I’ve never hated the word “garage” more. It’s a good series but she does it no justice at all.

Garage

I've never been so bugged by the way someone pronounces a word... The setting is in ATL. Why wouldn't you use someone with a southern accent that can properly say the word garage?! The way she pronounced that word was irritating.

Hannah is worse than “garage”

Soo many reviews about the way garage is pronounced but so few about Hannah’s ANNOYING valley girl voice?!?? I had to fast forward through her parts. Painful to listen to. Otherwise it’s a cute book.

Say it: Gah-raah-ge

Hey the book might be great but for a successful audio performance it’s all on the reader. Reviews of the Body Mover Books say things like catchy dialogue and interesting characters…. But as an audio book this is completely overshadowed by Ms. Jones and a really mediocre performance. I never leave reviews but feel compelled with this one- the character voices are awful and lack imagination. Wesley the brother is a whiny young boy but supposed to be 19, there was one character who was exactly Sean Penn’s Jeff Spicoli from “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” (I kid you not!); Hannah, the friend is straight out of Valley Girl by Frank Zappa (oh my god seriously!); it takes place in Atlanta yet virtually no southern accents; most annoying is the mispronunciation of words CONSISTENTLY!!! Garage. She says something like ‘gruge” with only two syllables. There are more. I cannot believe this didn’t get picked up by a director. The audio book is only as good as the reader who reads it - and this is third rate. If you can stand 12 hours of flat, ridiculous and incorrect pronunciation this book will be great. I want a refund. Please: next time you audio publish a book think of the poor people who have to listen to it.
