Publisher's summary

Three young men meet in university and form a lifelong friendship. Their pasts dictate the men they are, but their present shapes their future. What happens when these men meet the one person they are destined to be with? Can they fight their feelings and walk away? Or will they each succumb and learn the sweet agony of love?

Bentley is the leader of the group. He is uptight, formal, and cold. He's rgid and set in his ways, always following the same path. Until the day he stumbles upon her. Emmy brings with her spontaneity and light. The world she lives in is so different from his, yet he cannot control the draw to her. Nor can he explain the way she makes him feel. Happy. Protective. FANTASTIC!! A Must Read!!

Melanie Moreland writes an Alpha Male just the way I like them. Bentley is controlling and head strong. He’s all business and comes across as rigid.
But he’s also a gentleman and has a heart full of love.

Emmy is light and carefree. She has a laid back, go with the flow personality, and shines with life.

A chance encounter brings two complete opposites together but they soon find out they’re only different when it comes to their social status. Bentley lives a life of wealth and high class whereas Emmy is counting pennies to make ends meet.

From the outside looking in, they’re all wrong for one another but when they’re together, Emmy brings out the charming, passionate side of Bentley, and he discovers that underneath all those smiles and jokes, Emmy is a girl who is hurting and just wants to be truly loved.

These characters were absolutely beautiful. Their chemistry was intense but they approached their attraction to one another with a slow-burn, one step at a time allowing their bond to strengthen into something powerful and one of a kind.

This story was a page-turner. It’s sweet and sassy, yet there is an underlying suspense that keeps you guessing.

I listened to this on Audiobook and highly enjoyed every minute of it!!!

John Lane was the PERFECT narrator for Bentley. His voice is strong and solid and ridiculously enjoyable.

Maxine Mitchell was the narrator for Emmy and gave a beautiful performance. She’s passionate and emotional. You can feel her connection with Emmy and the story.

These narrators together was the perfect treat. They complimented each other and were on point from beginning to end. Two of my favorite narrators!!!

I devoured this book.
This is going to be a FANTASTIC series.

Highly Recommend.

Erotic, Respectful and Funny

First, I was surprised how much I enjoyed a book by the same author that wrote the blatantly misogynistic book The Contract. Hint: I hate macho, arrogant bosses who get off on bullying helpless employees. and who sexually harass women.

Now, Bentley may be one of my favorite male heroes ever; he genuinely likes and respects women, Bentley is a wonderful friend and he treats his female employees as intelligent professionals.

But the star of this novel is definitely Emmy - smart, confident and gutsy. She was not star struck by Bentley's good looks or incredible wealth, but wanted a man who would treasure her.

Overacted

Wow, first impressions are important. Male voice actor doesn’t sound natural at all. Overacting. Hoping it gets better, I’ll update if it does.

BAM😉😊

I know you don't like emojis Bentley but it's the emoji era, deal with it😏. Fantastic story, beautifully written and narrated. Love Rigid, Freddie and the rest of the gang. Hardly any angst, lots of humor, good banter, and friendship. It's just a happy family. Add a little danger and mystery to complete it. Will be listening to the rest of the series, I have a vested interest in Aiden and Maddox story. They need their HEA too. Get this book and the others in the series, you will not be disappointed, I've loved every Melanie Moreland book I've ever read.

No angst, a bit of action

This was sweet. It wasn’t your typical billionaire romance. He wasn’t a playboy with a million girls vying for his attention with a sorted past.

Bentley was rigid and formal. And he would have been a boring character to read about if he was that way throughout the whole book, like he was in the first chapter.

Luckily he meets Emmy pretty quickly. And Emmy brought out a fun witty side in him. She was sweet and caring and funny and I could understand why Bentley was interested in her immediately.

The majority of the book was told from Bentley’s POV, which I found interesting as most romances are told from the female perspective. But I liked this. I liked seeing Emmy through Bentley’s eyes. I liked knowing what he was thinking and feeling in regards to her. It was sweet watching him fall in love with her.

Bentley was completely adorable!!

Loved this book!! At first I thought it was going to be the standard rom-com format, but it quickly evolved into an engrossing love story with humor, suspense, and quirkiness!! I also loved the dynamic between the three guys: Bentley, Aiden and Maddox. They were as close as brothers and tormented each other the same way:)) it was fun listening to their antics!
I will be listening to this one again!

I heart Bentley

I really enjoyed the leading man and the friend dynamic going on, and John Lane is perfection narrating. I can’t wait to listen to the next books!

But… did no one else notice that Bentley’s backstory is nearly word for word the same as Batman? Down to the detail of the pearls? I wouldn’t be able to keep a straight face as a narrator reading that part and it gave me a good laugh XD

Liked it a ton!

First I have to say the narrators were excellent! The story was very good and the dialogue was as well. Worth a listen, I’m going on to the next book in the series!

The Contract was infinitely better

I didn’t care for the voice characterizations and the story was just lacking for me. I really wasn’t interested in what happened to them. The characters just weren’t well developed to me. To be fair, I am comparing this book to The Contract which was an absolutely well done story with rich characters that you cared about.
