action, adventure and mystery

This mystery series is really growing on me and now I need to have the rest in the series. I had to grin at the college football fever represented here in this book. Having lived in Oklahoma for four years, that football fervor is well known to me. Men and women in the south-east seem to live and breathe it. I had to laugh at the sacrilege when my husband wore my UC Berkeley jacket over his Sooners shirt.

Becker does an excellent job portraying the recruitment process and weaving the murder mystery into it. For once the mystery doesn't start with Hunter finding a dead body. He tries to help a young woman who ends up on the remote island where he where he and his neighbors live.

The description of "Stiltsville" really caught my imagination. I've always thought that sounded like a cool way to live: In a house built on/over water. I imagine the fishing would be amazing. I'm sure the real thing would involve a lot of mosquitoes, humidity and a lack of air conditioning., but I can dream :)

Hunter and his forensic girlfriend work together to navigate their work and personal life. His interactions with his boss Martinez take a delicate touch and it was nice to see that Susan had to finally pay for her on the job snafu's. It was also nice seeing a man torn between career and his child as that sentimentality is not always represented as much as it should be.

Paul J. McSorley did an excellent job at narrating. His voice picks up during action scenes and always accurately reflects what's going on. His voice and narration style is the perfect fit for Becker's outdoor series set on Florida's waterways. McSorley and Becker are a great combination and I hope they collaborate for years to come.

I highly recommend the Kurt Hunter series to anyone who looking for a good mystery and/or action adventure.

Backwater cove is a fun story

The story is fun. I know a lot of the places where the story took place. Narrator needs to learn how to pronounce Bimini. It it is not Be-mini!

Looking for the next chapter Kurt Hunters life.

Another amazing one

I'm absolutely in love with this series. Steven Becker gives great information while not making it awkward in the text. I have learned a lot about boats! And of course his story line kept me listening and never wanting to put it down! It's exciting to see the characters grow. And of course Paul's voice I can't get enough of!

Awesome Story, Awesome Narration!

Steven Becker and Paul J McSorley are a wonderful combination of writer and narrator. Backwater Cove is the third book in the series and a standalone listen. Kurt Hunter is a special agent with the park service, a father of a teenage daughter, and a lover to forensic specialist Justine. He always seems to be in trouble with his boss Martinez, is told to play nice with Detective Grace, thinks outside the box, and has a panache for finding dead bodies. This book has mystery, suspense, humor, and a great ending. Without giving away spoilers, I found this book to be the most gripping of the series. I love the imagery that is described. The narration is perfect. I like how the characters have distinguishable voices, and the emotions fit the scene. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Great from beginning to end

I really enjoyed this book. Hunter finally does something without getting in trouble with Martinez and family wise he finally gets some good news. I really liked the storyline and thanks to the narrator, it was more enjoyable.

Another winner for Kurt!

Kurt Hunter, special agent for National Park Service in FL, is like a magnet for dead bodies. In this book, we follow Kurt as he attempts to solve another murder that, once again, and to the consternation of his supervisor Martinez, has fallen into his lap. Love the supporting characters and the chemistry between them all. The jealousy between Justine and homicide detective, Grace, is palpable...and funny as heck. We finally ‘meet’ Kurt’s teen daughter and that was a very nice turn of events. As always, great storyline, well developed characters and non-stop drama.

Great job all around!

The things Kurt Hunter has to go through to complete his job are mind boggling to me. The hoops he jumps through for his boss, and the people he has to put up with makes for a hard day for Kurt. But, nonetheless he does it and gets the job done. Steven Becker has put together another great story in this series and I’m excited to see where else it goes from here. Paul McSorley does a wonderful job in giving life to the character with his voice which I enjoyed hearing throughout the story. Great job to both men!

Party boats are not fun

This book was about a group of football players who were being approached by college recruiters and the special trip ends up with tragic consequences. The wildlife agent is tasked with solving the murder mystery since it was involving water and the Miami islands that make up a National Park.

He uses his experience and instincts with help from his girlfriend to solve the case.

The narration was fine with clear voice and emphasis.
