Publisher's summary

A civilization stolen from the history books. A billionaire's obsession to unlock its secrets. A brotherhood determined to hide the truth. And time is running out.

Only a handful of people know what destroyed the ancient Atlanteans, whose very existence is a secret that they will kill to protect. Unfortunately, the very same catastrophe that destroyed that once proud civilization is drawing near once more. The question is, can marine biologist Sam Reilly discover the truth in time to prevent it?

Great!

Atlantis Stolen is a fun book to listen to. #4 in the Sam Reilly series, it ends in such a way that the reader expects a sequel. I'm looking forward to another by this author who has quickly become a favorite. Well done, Mr. Cartwright. You've thoroughly got me hooked on this amazing series!

Audio quality was great as usual.

I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Headlong adventure!

If James Bond, Ryder Haggard, Rafael Sabatini and Indiana Jones were reincarnated into a series, it would be this one. Completely unpredictable, yet everything hangs on familiar myths and legends. Plus no helpless females requiring rescue whatever the heroes think. Totally satisfying to watch the women stand toe to toe with the men and occasionally pull ahead of the male characters.

Do NOT listen to this at bedtime if you have work the morning. Do NOT listen to this if you think you might be interrupted. No pacing problems or long brooding introversion from this author. You'll be gasping for breath every time you think things are about to slow down because it will surprise you!

Half a star off for the narrator's female voices which are occasionally a little stiff, but it's so good, I didn't care. Half a star off for SPOILER ALERT!!! a rushed ending slotting you headlong into the next book. Irked me a little as I groped for my phone at 2AM (don't judge, I couldn't stop restarting the sleep timer) until I realized there were another fourteen books. Crisis averted, all is forgiven.

Each of these works as a stand alone. I found the series at The Mahogany Ship, the preceding book. There's enough in the books to just dive in anywhere and keep on. No smut, no gory detail despite the (eww!) voracious crocodiles, and did I mention the completely unpredictable storylines?! I'm totally binge-listening as fast as I can get the next book downloaded. Warning - you might find yourself sitting in your driveway with the car running and the A/C on so you can get to the end of a scene. Watch your gas gauge.

Worldwide Search

This is filled with things that are right up my alley. Secrets, deception and a whole lot of mystery, plus a worldwide search for that one crutial artefact. I had a lot of fun listening to this title. It incorporated some ancient history from different parts of the world. The author did a good job mingling these aspects. This can be read as a stand alone but it should be noted that it is actually the 3rd book in a series. At points, I could tell that I had missed some little facts or hints from previous books but did not hurt/ effect my listening experience too much. It is best described as more action with medium landscape description and light explaination of old characters. I really liked the adventure in this audiobook and, to me, almost felt like a national Treasure sort of story only different. One thing that I thought could have been done differently is that I felt that the characters always seemed to find an easy solution when some struggle would have been attention grabbing. It seemed like the main characters were friends with the most wealthy and powerful people. They always had the newest and perfect equipment for the job. Again, this is my personal feeling but this all around was a really action packed and enjoyable listen for me. The narration was done well. This was my first performance by this narrater and he kept my attention. At times I felt like the pace could have been quickened or the pitch of his voice changed to give that scene just a little something extra, but overall a job well done. This audiobook has made me want to explore others in the series in the future. I was given a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review via Audiobook Boom. This in no way affected my opinion of this work.

A good book with a nice pace.

This book was a good listen. The pace and the action keep coming it did not seem like it was at fever pace at any point. It was a nice book to listen to while driving. I would recommend starting at the beginning as it did not seem as a stand alone. It had some details from the first couple that would be helpful to know in this book.

What a ride..part Indiana Jones, part Tomb Raider!

Atlantis Stolen, which is Book 3 in the Sam Reilly series by Christopher Cartwright, was just plain fun. I felt, as I mentioned in the headline, that it was part Indiana Jones and part Tomb Raider. Now, this is my first Sam Reilly book and I can definitely say that you can listen to this as a standalone book, without having listened to or read the previous books. Anyways, this book is packed full of adventure, suspense and some ancient relics and mysteries having to do with the pygmies and the ancient Atlanteans. Sam and the crew, including Billie, who has been kidnapped and is leaving clues for Sam to follow, are on a race to stop a cataclysmic event that is counting down and will be occurring soon if they aren't able to stop it. It's a fun, wild ride. I felt that there was a LOT going on and perhaps the story could have moved a little faster in parts, but overall it was a great listen and I can't wait to listen to more of Sam's adventures!

David Gilmore is a great fit for this series. He fits the characters well and brings life to them all. Since I plan on listening to more of the series, I'm certainly glad that he's narrating them. A poor narrator can make even the best story a dud. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

An Exciting Race for Atlantis

Book three in the Sam Riley series was as much fun as The Mahogany Ship. After all, who isn’t curious about Atlantis? Different forces are after its secrets this time, but its power may be out of their control. If they don’t find it within the next three weeks, the disaster will affect all.

Billy Swan rushes for answers, Sam Riley searches for the kidnapped Billy. There are multiple players that have their own secrets. All the twists lead to a surprising ending. It’s an exciting adventure that will definitely entertain you.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review. You can find my full review at Mystery Suspense Reviews.

Atlantis & It's Mysteries

Let me start first by saying that I first left a review for the collection this book contained (Sam Reilly Vol.1) but was more than happy to leave an individual review. This series rocks! I love Sam Reilly. As usual, Mr Cartwright takes an event, person or place of historic interest and puts his spin on it, this time about Atlantis. Who hasn't heard of the mystery of Atlantis and what happened to it? Did it exist? Christopher Cartwright does a wonderful job of mixing modern with ancient, history with myth and making it totally entertaining. This adventure is full of mystery, suspense, history and action. I have listened to all of the Sam Reilly books to date (17 of them) and I truly enjoy each one. A really great bonus is that you do not have to listen to them in order but it actually work better if you do, little things in each show up later. The narration by David Gilmore was spot on. I really enjoy his narration of this series and can't imagine anyone else doing it!

Awesome adventure and intrigue!

Atlantis Stolen
Sam Reilly, Book 3
By: Christopher Cartwright
Narrated by: David Gilmore
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
I love the Sam Reilly series. This is another good one. Secret societies, danger, adventure, intrigue, thrills, and lots of action. Plenty of twists and turns to keep me guessing but enough knowledge to enjoy the whole story.
The narrator is great at keeping the flow going smoothly and the excitement level just right! Great job! Love these books!

great read

Atlantis Stolen, my sixth read from author Christopher Cartwright. Well-written and captivating with well-developed main characters reminding one of Dan Brown’s writing as well as the character of Indiana Jones. So good I re-read it as I was given an Audible copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. I’ll be reading more by this author as I own several more books in the series! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
