Publisher's summary

The man most hated by the LAPD - a black lawyer who has made his name by bringing lawsuits alleging racism and brutality by police officers - has been found murdered on the eve of a high-profile trial. The list of suspects includes half the police force. And Harry Bosch is the detective chosen to head the investigation. The political dangers of the case are huge. If it's not investigated fairly, the public outcry could make the Rodney King riots look tame. But a full investigation will take Bosch into the ugliest corners of law enforcement.
Don't miss Detective Harry Bosch on the case in these Michael Connelly crime fiction novels.

Burt Reynolds is the Worst!

What did you like best about Angels Flight? What did you like least?

The story was great but Burt Reynolds perfomance was attrocious! I am a big audio book fan. I drive for a living and years ago started with books on tape.Burt Reynolds reading of Angels Flight was the worst reading I have ever heard. His over the top vocal inflections were rediculous and made parts of the book hard to hear. I had to keep rewinding to try and figure out what he said.Reynolds reading made a good story hard to understand and keep up with.Mr. Reynolds needs to understand that reading a book is not all about him, it's all about the characters and the story.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I am a big Connoley fan and love the Harry Bosch character. The story was great and I enjoyed it.

How could the performance have been better?

Get rid of Burt Reynolds. Dick Hill, Len Cariou, Dick Davidson, Jay Fernandez, they get it. They understand it's about the story and the charachters. They do not try to make the book about them. Reynolds does not have a clue how to read a story.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes I would. I enjoyed Blood Work and really enjoyed the Lincoln lawyer. I am glad that the debacle with Paramount is over and I am looking forward to the Harry Bosch TV series if they can get it done.

Any additional comments?

MC keep up the good work. I am a big fan of your stories.

Burt Reynolds IS Harry Bosch!

What made the experience of listening to Angels Flight the most enjoyable?

Good story line, even if not Connolly's best. Will keep the reader intrigued to the very end.

What did you like best about this story?

No suspects till the very end!

Which character – as performed by Burt Reynolds – was your favorite?

Harry Bosch. Burt embodies the voice of Harry as I imagined it when reading all the other Harry Bosch books.

not fond of Burt Reynolds reading!

Enjoyed the story, but didn't care for Burt Reynolds as the narrator. We've listened to the series in order and missed the previous reader!

Great story ruined by Burt Reynolds!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

No, the narrator is a distraction.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Harry, he is the best character in all the Bosch books!

How could the performance have been better?

With any other narrator! Mr. Reynolds voice is too raspy to have anyrange

Poor narration

Did not enjoy Burt Reynolds narration of this book. At times could not hear him. Especially his interpretation of a woman's voice. He made all the women sound like phone sex operators. Not pleasant at all.

Horrible reader

Would you consider the audio edition of Angels Flight to be better than the print version?

Burt Reynolds doesn't do a good job at all. The story is good like all Michael Connelly stories.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Too low of voice.

A Fair Read

Story had a nice twist to the villain. Thought it was a bit drawn out however.

Can't handle Burt

The story was good but I personally can't handle Burt Reynolds reading it. I will never listen to another one he does. The story was very good though.

Good Story

This audiobook is typical Connelly / Harry Bosche fare. It's a good story and will keep your attention.

I would have given it a higher rating, but the Burt Reynolds reading is uninspiring, and I would have preferred an unabridged version, if one exists.

Disappointing

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Yes, first, the narrator. Burt Reynolds was hard to understand and several times I wondered if he was ill as his voice was weak at times. Second, the story really didn't go anywhere. I love the Harry Bosch series and I'm almost halfway through them but this was the least liked so far.

What did you like best about this story?

The character, Harry Bosch.

What didn’t you like about Burt Reynolds’s performance?

His tone of voice, narration style, no intonation. No excitement, no enthusiasm.

Did Angels Flight inspire you to do anything?

No.

Any additional comments?

If you like Harry Bosch, you should like the book. I can't comment further without giving part of the story away.
