Mac Faraday is a man with a past living a quiet life in the country - until his beloved friend, Ned Lowey, is found hanged. Is it suicide? Faraday won't accept that and starts to ask questions. Why did Ned visit Kinross Hall, the local home for juvenile girls? Why did he keep press cuttings about the skeleton of a girl found in an old mine shaft? Great story,

This is the best Peter Temple book I have read. It is beautifully written with a great turn of phrase, a a deep understanding of Australian expression and sense of humour and our sense of values.
Some gems are "data protection as good as a knitted condom", "in like a prick on a honeyman" and "they make a good beer those pointy heads" (referring to Boags beer made in Tasmania.

Marco Chiappi is about the best narrator Ihave heard. He does a great range of voices and captures the essence of Peter's expression.

Grows on you

A bit slow start, but turned out to be a good listen. Enjoyed the accent :-)
