A dead man walks into a police station. He tells a tale - bizarre as it is grotesque - of kidnap and organ harvesting. John Baden's story of being held prisoner for 12 years sounds far-fetched - but it's all about to get much, much stranger. DI Ben Westphall has been given the case because of his background in MI6. He also has a knack for getting inside people's heads and seeing things others would miss. Westphall is no ordinary detective, and this is no ordinary case.

Welcome to Newford: to the music clubs, the waterfront, and the alleyways where ancient myths and magic spill into the modern world. Gemmins live in abandoned cars and skells traverse the tunnels below, while mermaids swim in the gray harbor waters and fill the cold night with their song. Come meet Jilly, painting wonders in the rough city streets; and Geordie, playing fiddle while he dreams of a ghost; and the Angel of Grasso Street gathering the fey and the wild and the poor and the lost.

Book Not Finished
This started out promising but was not finished when the pages ended. I really liked two other books Wignall wrote that had great plots with some twist throughout. I will try another one because the others were so good. Don't waste time on this book--you will be disappointed.

Big Fan of Kevin
This is not his best but still great and a bit different from his others. Like always I’m surprised all his books aren’t on the best seller lists. A bit slower than his usual but more contemplative. Good listen and great reader.

Disappointed
I have enjoyed most of Kevin Wignall’s books, but I found it difficult to finish this one. I was actually looking forward to the end, in order to stop listening. Maybe it’s just me?

Struggled to finish.
But I finished. Don't think I'll read again, as I do the other Wignall books. Nope!
