Publisher's Summary

This program is read by Chad Michael Murray
New York Times best-selling author Heather Graham has teamed up with celebrated actor and celebrity icon Chad Michael Murray to weave a tale of passion and danger in the captivating thriller audiobook American Drifter.
A young veteran of the US Army, River Roulet is struggling to shake the horrors of his past. War is behind him, but the memories remain. Desperate to distract himself from the images haunting him daily, River abandons the world he knows and flees to the country he's always dreamed of visiting: Brazil.
Rio de Janeiro is everything he hoped for and more. In the lead-up to Carnaval, the city is alight with music, energy, and life. With a few friends at his side, River seems to be pulling his life together at last.
Then he meets the enchanting Natal, an impassioned journalist and free spirit - who lives with the gangster that rules much of Rio.
As their romance blossoms, River and Natal flee together into the interior of Brazil, where they are pursued by the sadistic drug lord, Tio Amato, and his men. When River is forced to kill one of those men, the chase becomes even deadlier. Not only is the powerful drug boss after them, the Brazilian government is on their trail as well.
Will the two lovers escape - and will River ever be free of the bloody memories that haunt him?
This audiobook adventure is equal parts passion and suspense, enhanced by the vivid backdrop of Brazil.

AMAZINGGGGGGGG!!!!! True Love Always!

I must admit I am guilty of downloading the audible version after I had already pre ordered the signed hard copy of the book only because the fact that it would be Chad M. Murray being the voice would be music to my ears. It was like having my own Lucas Scott for a whole about 7 and some hours plugged right into my ears..... and so when the story began I must have drifted off to lala land just focusing on the sound of his voice and not the story itself. But as I continued the story begins to catch my attention and slowly I caught myself wanting to hear who, what, where.... then he met Natal (is that is how you spell it) and it was like ok so what happens next? Along the way I felt this knot in my belly.... I began to know it.... (cant say the “it” part of it because it would be a spoiler) but the twist was just amazing! The story line is sooo close to real life situations that many men, even women and most of all Veterans go through. The love story behind it is also so real. It reminds me that there is still true love in this world and the magic of love is still possible. A love that is so true and so real that it is until we meet in another world. Terrific master piece Mr Murray and my forever Lucas Scott ❤️ cant wait till the next one!

Cop-out Ending

Just finished this book and it's a NO for me. The ending was a blindside but not in a good way. Instead of tying up numerous loose ends, the author closed the door with an unsatisfying conclusion and made me feel cheated.

Based on the book's summary, I was expecting some fun cat-and-mouse adventure. That didn't happen either. There was no intensity in the pacing, no mounting suspense. Character development was miniscule at best, which is why, I suppose, the author felt she could get away with the ending.

I had high hopes for this novel based on the summary and the only review available. Huge letdown.
