Publisher's Summary

The New York Times best-selling author of Closer than You Think returns with a breathtaking new novel of suspense that crosses the line between danger and desire and justice and revenge.
Homicide detective Scarlett Bishop has seen enough bad guys slip through the cracks and too many innocent victims go unavenged to know that good doesn't always prevail. So far she's been able to lock away her rage and her vigilante fantasies. That lock is about to break.
Former army ranger Marcus O'Bannion is a fierce champion of victims' rights. His secret past gives him good reason. He believes he's seen the depths of human depravity, but then his investigation into the murder of a young girl who once asked for his help lures him and Scarlett down a dark, dark road - and straight into the crosshairs of a dangerous, powerful underground ring that deals in human trade. To stop them Scarlett and Marcus have to be just as cunning and just as ruthless. But first they have to make it out alive.

The book and plot was good, if a bit over the top and too long. But I hung in there...AND THEN THAT STUPID NO-ENDING ENDING. I am so mad. I CANNOT stand to feel like I have been maneuvered into buying the next book in a series. I don't mind some unresolved issues going in to the next book, but this book ends with NO RESOLUTION AT ALL. It totally ruined my prior enjoyment of the book. This is a rip off and a turn off to me - both toward the publisher and the author. Way too much time to invest in a book that leaves you hanging to this degree.

I am usually a big fan of Karen Rose, but this sincerely angered me. It's like your reading/listening and the WHAM, that's it. No warning - the book just stops - not ends - stops. Because there is no coherent ending at all to this book.

I truly don't believe I will invest in another 30 hours of the next book to find out what was supposed to happen in this book. Save your credit!
