Publisher's summary

A car lies crashed below a Welsh mountain road. One of the young women inside it is dead, the other badly injured with no memory of who she is or what just happened. All she has is a bus pass showing her photograph and a name she doesn't recognize.

As she struggles to recover from her injuries, a startling revelation shatters everything she thought she knew, forcing her into an uneasy alliance with Detective Bronwen Pryce. With danger closing in from all sides, the two women must work together to uncover the truth - even if it kills them.

Her Best Yet - Highly Recommend

The raw power of the first books has been supplanted by clever, more sophisticated verbal gymnastics. I use the word "verbal" because this is a book that is best heard as a performance -- and Ms. Vincent is the perfect match. This is like the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for me, in that I can't really imagine reading it (as opposed to listening to it being performed). The dialogue cascades at you in a wonderful, spontaneous way. (Note the use of the present tense, a tricky bit of business!) I tend to read hard sci-fi, police procedurals and historical biographies. About 5 times a year I stumble on something that compels me to do a review. This is such a book. Don't read it if you can't deal with a lesbian as the lead detective -- do read it (even if you are a older straight male like me) if you are a person who really enjoys a fast-moving, involving mystery with a Manchester/Wales backdrop and an insightful self-awareness that is as enjoyable as it is character-rich. There....an entire paragraph, and not one word about the plot -- which you will just have to read for yourself.

Not in love, but definitely in like!

I'm a huge Cari Hunter fan, but I was expecting more from this book. The murder mystery of the book was fantastic, kept me on the edge of my seat!! I absolutely love the narrator! She has an amazing voice and never fails to schmooze my ears and senses. What I didn't like was the romance piece or severely lack there of one. Romance this was not. It all was fairly awkward and kind of a side note. I found myself wondering how did that happen with no lead up, lack of chemistry, and sort of anti climactic. The story would have been just the same with that bit, which says alot. Other than that, the rest of the book was good and still worth the credit!

Awesome read and audio

I love listening to Cari Hunter's books and reading them too. I buy as many as I can but some are too expensive. This one is a great book, full of thrills, adventures and even romance.

Might be my favorite by this author

Brilliant story telling! Masterful blend of suspense, action, heart and wit. Most of Cari Hunter’s stories are so good that I immediately listen a second time through to savor the story again. I hope she will spin many more tales.

Pretty good.

I enjoyed Cari Hunter's series a lot more though. As much as I enjoy this narrator, Ms. Vincent, as well, I found the overall monotonous tone of voice she read this story in, somewhat hard to listen to. As before, however, I just love how she is able to do the various dialects/accents/slang. Makes me laugh every time.

An excellent mystery - should be a bestseller!

This is the best suspense book I've read or listened to in a very long time. With a bigger push by its publisher you would have seen this at the front of every book store.

I love the mystery in Cari Hunter’s books

Great story. Nicole Victoria Vincent does a wonderful job narrating. Definitely recommend if you like a little mystery with lesbian attraction.

Buy this audiobook!

This book is exciting from beginning to end. Cari Hunter knows how to write thrillers! I listened to this book non stop to the end. Nicola Victoria Vincent has such a way with European accents. It's like a gift! From the very first moments of this book I felt a sense of anticipation of what was going to happen. Most books are somewhat predictable in the "who done it" arena, but this one keeps you guessing until the end! Also, I don't fluff reviews for anyone or any reason. If it's great I say so. If it's not so great I say that too, just with less exuberance.
