Downer

Very depressing. A good who done it, but I won't read this kind of book if I know that there are no, repeat no, happy outcomes for any of the characters . Beware

Boring or Bored narrator

I have never listened to a more unemotional, flat narration on Audible than this narrator.

great book great suspense

You never know what is next. I think this writer is under valued. Another one of his great books. I went to bed LATE a few nights trying to listen and figure out what was coming next. I recommend it.

Another great listen.

What made the experience of listening to A Tap on the Window the most enjoyable?

I really like Linwood's stories. I have listened to them all but one now and really have very much enjoyed them all. This one is no different.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I like the father Cal in this one....I also like Auggie the brother in law, kind of one of those bad boy chief of police type.

What does Mark Zeisler bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His voice is great. And the way he does the different people in the story really adds to this being an enjoyable listen.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes...several parts when people die.

Any additional comments?

This is a great listen. Any Linwood fans out there will not be unhappy with this one! Has you going to the very end!

SOLID AS A WINDOW

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, if mystery is what you like. Well written and performed. Mark Zeisler was good except for a segment where he is very bland. "She snapped" should be narrated as a snap, for example. It was like for a chapter he was tired. Not as good as "Trust your Eyes" but still pretty good

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Pretty much

Have you listened to any of Mark Zeisler’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, he was better than average

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Take this question out

Any additional comments?

Barclay is a good author and I need to choose another but not sure which one.

Great read of a good mystery.

Would you listen to A Tap on the Window again? Why?

No - the story is simple so one listen is enough.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes - it's a good little mystery - easy to listen to with lots of twists and likeable main character.

Which character – as performed by Mark Zeisler – was your favorite?

The detective.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was touching and well crafted. No great lasting reactions, just a good book.

The reader was well-suited to the book and his acting was perfect for it. Barclay almost always spins a good yarn and this one was a good listen. Very enjoyable.

Too many characters

This is one of several books I have read by this author. The others had well developed characters. This one had too many characters and all but one was shallow. And too many deaths-very sad.

Pulse-Pounding Suspense..

This is a pulse-pounding, suspenseful story about Cal Weaver, a private detective living in a small town with corrupted officials. Everybody has secrets, and it's the exposure of individual secrets that kept the story moving at a good pace, and the people's tongue wagging and everybody's imagination running wild.

I thoroughly enjoyed this mystery thriller. Cal Weaver makes a foolish decision based on the memory of his dead son. With that decision, Cal is drawn into a mystery of death and sadness. Secrets are revealed one by one with a few unexpected twists and turns. Ending was unexpected and very sad.

Narrator Mark Zeisler has a slightly husky mature voice. His performance is good but his limited range of voices/tones made it hard to distinguish who was speaking from time to time, but overall okay.

Recommend....

Can't wait to dive into the next Barclay Book!

The story was great and so was the narration. I love Linwood's style of writing. There were a couple times with the addition of new characters I got confused and had to go back in book to remember who they were. However I did still really enjoy it.
