Publisher's Summary

Everyone knows about the rivalry between local celebrity baker Missy Gladstone and the jealous and often zealous donut man Darryl Davis from across town, but no one ever thought it would come to murder. As the town gets stirred up over what looks to be their very own version of a murder mystery tv show they can't believe what's happening in their little town. If it wasn't enough that they think Ben's a suspect, now someone has been lurking around her home after dark. Could she be next? Follow Missy and Detective Beckett as they try to figure out who real the killer is.

Culinary Cozy

There's not much I can add to the publishers summary without writing spoilers. At just short of 2 1/2 hours this is a very short listen with a lot packed in to it, so short that though packed with characters and plot twists, it lacked detail and was, therefore, not a fully satisfying experience. A shame really, as the plot outline makes for a good culinary cozy. All the facts are there but it reads like an abridged version, I would have thought that having two authors, the characters could have been padded out a little.
Having said that, I did quite enjoy it, there are eleven books in this series (but just one in audio format) they must be popular, so I'm sure the writing style improves no end.

It is a typical cozy, with all the elements that cozy lovers crave, cooking, murder, mystery and a little romance, so worth giving a go.

Narrator

Narrated by Jane Boyer, a name new to me, I thought she did a good job, pleasant voice, great male characters but I did find it a little difficult to differentiate between the females. I thought she portrayed a very good "Missy" through all her emotions. I don't think the recording itself is of top quality, at times it obscured the clarity of the narration, there was also a faint but consistent sibilance present. This is no fault of the narrator, and I would happily listen to other work by Jane Boyer.
