Publisher's Summary

Yogi Kate must clear her name of murder in this charming yoga mystery.
When Kate Davidson gets an offer to teach yoga classes to wedding guests at the Elysian Springs resort, she jumps at the opportunity, even though it means being forced to endure the wedding ceremony of the center's two caretakers.
Avoiding the M-word turns out to be the least of Kate's problems when a wedding guest is found floating face-down in the resort's hot tub, shortly after a loud, public (and somewhat embarrassing) fight with Kate. The police pick Kate as their number-one suspect, so she's forced to team up with boyfriend Michael, best friend Rene, and German shepherd sidekick Bella to find the real killer. But they'll have to solve the murder before the police arrest Kate, or her next gig may last a lifetime—behind bars.

Downward Dog

An enjoyable Cozy Mystery. Typical of a cozy, you have a harebrained heroine who is wrongfully accused of murder, then sets out to prove her innocence. Throw in a dog with health and anxiety issues, a friend going through a marriage crisis, an obnoxious murder victim....well, you get the picture!

Great narration by Ms. James with enough dialect differences to make the story more enjoyable. An entertaining book, either to read or have read to you!

I was given an Audible copy of this book by the narrator/publisher/author and chose to review it.

A Killer Retreat

Life throws curve balls when you least expect it to. This motto, if you believe in karma, is gold. When you want something, but become desperate to find it—the worst scenario possible is all too likely. If you are not looking for anything, the best things in life can be life altering and quite beautiful. Weber has an entertaining mystery comedy that will rope readers in and leave them wanting to read more.

What was thought to be a nice vacation and an easy work schedule turns out to be one of the worst decisions that Kate has ever made. Kate and Michael take Bella to a retreat so that Kate can help the bride and groom relax by holding some Yoga classes for the family. Kate typically is an easy going person, but her temper is on edge already. After walking Bella while waiting for the ferry, an obnoxiously well-dressed New-Yorker prances around on her phone, allowing her Jack Russell terrier to dominate the beach without a leash. Kate, knowing that Bella isn’t very friendly with other dogs, immediately tries to get her attention and miserably fails. After a round in the mud and being yanked like a rag-doll, Kate is finally able to get the woman to acknowledge her and get off of her phone. What a disaster! The woman sees no fault in her actions, by letting her dog run free on the beach with several people and animals milling around on leashes. With the hope that she’ll never see this woman again by the looks of her, Michael is able to calm Kate down once they get onto the ferry and headed to their destination. But, as always, Kate knows that nothing can ever go in her favor. Checking into their cabin, she finds the woman is there to attend the wedding and absolutely no one likes her, but she is the bride’s mother-in-law so everyone tries to make due with friendly attempts and staying out of her way…until she winds up dead. And what’s worse…Kate is the first on scene and becomes the prime suspect.

Weber has a superb story-line and exceptional character development. All of her characters have such depth that will intrigue the reader and allow them to feel emotions like sympathy and determination. This review is complimenting the audiobook. The pace was absolutely terrific; it was fast-paced and the narrator was entertaining. She changed pitch and vocalization for every character and added sounds for special effect. If you are a reader of cozy mysteries and women’s fiction, you may want to pick this one up. Since this is the second installment in the Downward Dog Mystery series, it is advised to read Murder Strikes a Pose as there are some references made back to that installment; however, this can be read as a standalone if desired.

A copy of this audiobook was provided to Turning Another Page by Loving the Book, but this in no way affects our honest opinion of the book or the review that has been written. We provide a five-star rating for A Killer Retreat by Tracy Weber.
