A very good serie

Volume 4 of the Orchard Mystery Serie. This Serie's a highlight so far.

The mother of the main caracter Meg Corey inherited an Apple-Orchard and an old Colonial House. Initially Meg came to Granford in Massachusetts to sell the estate.
But she fell in love with the place and kept on. In this Volume a former friend of her mother is murdered and Meg is not happy with her mothers involvement. But than - could her mother really kill someone? Even if Meg is not very conected to her mom, she has to help her out of this.

I love the development between mother and daughter in this book.

Too much angst

I will read more, but it felt like all of the angst about her mother was there to fill out the book.

Mommy Dearest

What did you love best about A Killer Crop?

Finally having a role for Elizabeth Corey, Meg's mother, although I didn't like her being the main suspect in a murder. I like the details of her house renovations.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I like Meg, who is willing to learn new things and go in a very different direction in life than she'd previously known. She's also not to young to be a nit wit nor too old to be out of sync.

What about Robin Miles’s performance did you like?

I adore Robin Mile's narration of this series. She definitely does bring out every ounce of personality available even though some characters like Seth are bland as heck. She's a talented narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not really as it is very long with lots of side detailing of pesticides. I also can't listen to long to a woman that has such angst dealing with her own mother. She's so deceptive and needy when it comes to dear old mom.

Any additional comments?

Robin Miles' is so talented that you can listen and drift away to Granford. All of the series is overly heavy on side lessons on different things, that reading text could be boring or slow but Robin Miles makes that palatable with her lovely voice and excellent interpretation the story.

Family drama and murder

Meg is busy with apple harvest when her mother shows up unannouced. She has to balance harvesting apples, her parents and murder. This is a very entertaining book. The intrusion of her parents and the murder is very realistic. I don't know whythe state police bothers with investigating because Meg manages to beat them to the truth. I wish there was a different narrator. This one does a terrible job. Sometimes Seth has an accent sometimes he doesn't. Plus everyone sounds old.
