I enjoyed this murder mystery although at times it was annoyingly read (a mentally ill woman in the book is portrayed in whiny girl tones throughout) A good mystery and I am looking forward to listening to more from Ann Granger.

I love Ann Granger and I have listened to as many of her books on audio as I could find. However, I found this book a genuine disappointment. It felt very disconnected and choppy. Also, the ending was, IMO, very far fetched. Granger has written many, many other books that were far better than this one.

Anne Granger's stories are not grittily realistic, like Ian Rankin's or Peter Robinson's, and are more like a modern-day Agatha Christie in that multiple murders are committed in English villages and amateur sleuthing contributes to the final resolution. If you like that genre you'll enjoy this book (and her others) as she produces well-crafted stories and creates characters you can see in your imagination. The writer is well-served by the excellent reading by Judith Boyd.
