Publisher's summary

When experienced homicide detective Casey Duncan first moved to the secret town of Rockton, she expected a safe haven for people like her, people running from their past misdeeds and past lives. She knew living in Rockton meant living off the grid completely: no cell phones, no Internet, no mail, very little electricity, and no way of getting in or out without the town council's approval. What she didn't expect is that Rockton comes with its own set of secrets and dangers. Now, in A Darkness Absolute, Casey and her fellow Rockton sheriff's deputy Will chase a cabin-fevered resident into the woods, where they are stranded in a blizzard. Taking shelter in a cave, they discover a former resident who's been held captive for over a year. When the bodies of two other women turn up, Casey and her colleagues must find out if it's an outsider behind the killings or if the answer is more complicated than that...before another victim goes missing.

Casey Duncan returns in another heart-racing thriller from number-one New York Times best-selling author Kelley Armstrong.

well written and narrorated

This is the 2nd in the series. With over 60 chapters it is well worth the $/credits. Kelley has always been one of my favorite authors and the way she draws you into these mysteries makes no exception. I came to her as a follower of her urban fantasy books and have worked my way thru all at her books. when your done with this you are not sure who you appeal to more the white or black hats. the twist you do not see coming till it hits you. sit back and enjoy the read or listen because as well as a great story this is a narrorator I will start following.

Great book, only one issue..

The narrator continuously pronouncing "tuque" like "took" was distracting and aggravating... other than that, it's great listen.

Entertaining story but repetitive

This series' overall concept is very intriguing but the demensions of the characters aren't very wide so the interactions felt repetitive by about 50% of the way through.

Can't get enough of this series

This is an excellent police thriller. Just like the first book, I thought I had it all figured out and then the author goes and throws me for a loop, and not just once! I love the concept of the town of Rockton, and am really enjoying the series so far. The narrator is excellent and really brings the book to life. Will definitely listen to the next book.

But for The ending.

It was formulaic but still
A good read. But the ending felt short, incomplete and rushed.bv

Come on.

The story would have been better and less aggravating if the so called detective wasn't being so stupid in the last third of the book. More then her. I still really enjoyed the book, just got annoyed at bad choice after bad choice, and she's supposed to be a smart homicide detective. Oh well. Looking forward to another and hopefully she has learned to make better decisions by then.

Favorite of the 3 so far.

I love this series. This is my favorite of the 3, nicely paced and brought love of a side character (for me) I'm fascinated by the characters and can't wait for more of this series to come out.
