Publisher's summary

Cantankerous and vinegar-tongued Grandmama, from Anne Perry's Charlotte and Thomas Pitt series, is the leading character in this Christmas novel, which unfolds in the chilly, windswept Romney Marshes off the English Channel.

Grandmama arrives on a holiday visit to the home of Charlotte's parents, where a fellow guest--an outcast from her own family--is subsequently murdered. Like the heroes before her in Anne Perry's Christmas novels, Grandmama is called upon to play the role of amateur detective.

Great listen

This author has the ability to bring characters to life, with defects and strengths. This is a great listen.actually inspiring in that it creates an emotional growth in the main character that is rich in texture. The narrator does a good job as well.

Anne Perry

Great series book. Terrence Harriman is an excellent narrator who gives each character a personality that is quite easy to imagine.

A wholesome mystery

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It is a great breakout story from the usual inspector Pitt series. The despicable grandmother has a chance to become known to the reader. She has a chance to show her metal as an investigator and maybe Charlotte isn't the only one in the family with a brain. It is a great listen especially if you know Pitt but stands quite on its own, too.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked it because it gave me a chance to know another member of the "Pitt" family.

Have you listened to any of Terrence Hardiman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I liked it a lot

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

Could be an introduction to the series.

A delightful listen

Both the story, the character development and the narration are superb. Looking forward to reading others in Ann Perry’s Christmas series.

Fun read

I’ve read a number of the Charlotte Pitt mysteries and enjoyed them. It’s fun to hear more about Grandmama and her back story. It’s hard to swallow that she changed so much but since it was written by Anne Perry I guess it’s now part of the “cannon”.

Hope, Growth, change

I liked how influence of an unselfish person, changed an embittered person helped her to pass it on to others.

Perfect holiday mystery!

My first Anne Perry novel and it won’t be the last. She’s witty and insightful with well developed characters. Loved this mystery!
