Publisher's Summary

Winter in South Dakota. Blowing snow, icy roads, a tired driver. A bus skids and crashes and is stranded in a gathering storm.
There's a small town 20 miles away, where a vulnerable witness is guarded around the clock. There's a strange stone building five miles further on, all alone on the prairie. There's a ruthless man who controls everything from the warmth of Mexico.
Jack Reacher hitched a ride in the back of the bus. A life without baggage has many advantages. And crucial disadvantages too, when it means facing the arctic cold without a coat. But he's equipped for the rest of his task. He doesn't want to put the world to rights. He just doesn’t like people who put it to wrongs.

Anothre great Reacher book

A great book, very well narrated and interesting. Reacher wastes no time in getting to the point. Lee Childs has become a favorite of mine, uncomplicated plots, entertaining characters and very well narrated, never a waste of money

This story is best left for summer, its very cold!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. Lee Child is a winner!

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The cold war relics, the crook and the phone romance were most interesting.I knew who the traitor was very early in the book, so it appears did Reacher. But if so, why did he not call him out earlier? Why let the witness die?The traitor should have been killed with a bit more grovelling and ceremony :)The ending is somewhat ambiguous. You have to read A wanted man, and then Never go back, to fully understand if Reacher is still alive or dead.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Jeff Harding?

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Jack Reacher

Any additional comments?

Keep em coming :)

61 Hours (Unabridged)

Have just finished listening and was hooked right to the end, but ... obviously not the conclusion.
Jeff Harding's inimitable rendition of 'Reacher-speak' never fails to conjure up our rangy hero, and the author, as always, creates a particularly nasty antagonist who challenges our hero's self-confidence.
I did guess the bad-guy of the bunch before the end, but then I like it when I can follow all the clues.
And, I can't wait for the sequel - there just has to be one!

Worrying for Jack Reacher fans

For those addicted to Jack Reacher's adventures this is a worrying book as we're left wondering what happens to our hero at the end?

Beautifully read to capture Jack's laconic voice, this is very much a 'slow burner' that builds up to a very hot ending (this, as you will discover, is a dreadful pun!). Jack falls for two women, one elderly lady who he meets on a daily basis, and one who he never gets to meet.

Lee Child will never win the Booker Prize but he will keep you guessing as you sit on the edge of your seat. Great stuff.

I love the Jack Reacher novel series, and made more famous by Tom Cruise playing Jack in two brilliant movies, now hook on another great author.
